Yes.. of course they also got mention if severe usage then it will be 5,000 but for normal usage it fits for 10,000km.

Alamak i just bought 2 tong of 10w-40.. haha now thinking whether to use it or not... since new engine sure the fitting is pretty tight..

Can use lah....buy already just use.... smile_tongue.gif

Yup, short start go stop use are more extreme then cruising on highway...
Why you say 5k km OCI is extreme, many car company still recommend 5k km change and some 10k km.... smile_tongue.gif

Perodua say severe driving conditions means : 1. driving on rough roads or hilly areas .2. driving in a dusty area or salty air area.2.Engine idling for a long time.4. Use as taxi or rental car. 5.Towing of a trailer.6.Frequent brakes application.7. Short trips. 8. 50% or more driving in heavy traffic in hot temperature of 32 degree C or higher.
But they refuse to let my car serviced at 5K OCI and they said 10K OCI is their practice.

this is weird and shouldn't be.
When customer is willing to pay more why not?

Is it because they're struggling to cope with the numbers?

I heard Honda have changed it to 10,000km OCI instead of 5,000km OCI as their old practice.. one of the reasons being because they no longer not able to cope with the current capacity

As mentioned above, my friend's PUG same thing. SC only will change at 10k km, so he change outside at 5k km...

currently i am running on full syn oil and sticking to 10k km change interval.
what i notice is that the engine loses it smooth feeling at 8k km.
what if i change the oil filter at 5k km?
do u guys think it will helps?

i cant afford 5k km change as a bottle cost rm160 and i frequently travel.
plus, my engine require more than 4l.currently the engine still does not consume oil
the oil level drop but its due to the rocker gasket which will be change...thats
a long story esp as its a european engine with all the wiring, intake, and not normal nuts to be remove.

on the x1r engine oil additve, proton already issue a memo to their sc to stop using the additive for cfe engine.
their investigation reveal that the x1x additive will breaks down and form sludge which will then block the turbine's oil
feed pipe.
if not mistaken the sludge is magnesium from the additive.

Then they should stop for all their cars. Sludge will damage NA cars too.... smile_blackeye.gif

Then change at 8k km, brother. No point dragging another 2k km.... smile_wink.gif

Even the service booklet does not have a column for 5 K OCI. S O they have no place to chop the work done. Eventually, I service outside for the 5 K OCI.

this comes towards the quality of their communication which one of the fellow Preve club member just had their car recommended and eventually poured with X1R ... so really need to be careful .. for those who are not well versed about cars, at least insist to stick to only the mandatory items and avoid any optional.

I countered check with my SC in Melaka and they confirmed they received such memo.

Yup.. something I plan to do now... but it costs a lot for a bottle of oil

Nope, if that is true, FS oil will be selling like hot cakes....hhahhahahha
Fuel consumption best is driving style, right foot lighter on the pedal. Use cruising speed, don't do un-necessary pick up, coast to stop rather then use the brakes, lighten the car, don't carry excessive stuff, check air pressure and so on. Even though may be negligible but savings is savings.

Back to the oil. Currently, what viscosity are you using? If using SS 10w-40, changing to lighter 5w-30 you can feel the engine being lighter, but first check the car manual whether 30 weight is recommend for your car
