Is it advisable to clean the MAF sensor since my car is 12 years old now?
I am experiencing higher fuel consumption even after top overhaul.
Thanks in advance

I am not sure how to remove the sensor for cleaning though. Anyone willing to advise?
Thanks.

As far as I know don't touch the MAF sensor. Very sensitive and you can damage it.....

4G13 should be using hotter plug. FC will get bad if changed to cooler one.

how to check? easy....
MAF is the big sensor located beside big airbox.....
MAP sensor is small black sensor located on the intake manifold at around fuel injector location
only MAF need cleaning because it always subjected to airflow right behind air filter...
MAP sensor just a sensor with small hole detecting vaccum (or to be exact Manifold Absalute Pressure) hence the name...and didnt geet dirty because it just got small opening....unlike MAF sensor basically a screen filter across the intake pipe...

But MAF also a few types, right? Mine is hot wire or something like that. Mechanic told me not to attempt to clean as it is very sensitive and can be easily damaged....

yes. very very fragile. just spray softly with electronic cleaner if you really want to try. cost me rm450 for this failed diy.
its as soft as a burned match stick.
