(Cont)

The kit upgrade cost me RM5k + shipping, with the vernier pulley(s), Set of Cam followers, Piper timing Belt and the cam kits. I bought directly from Piper cam dealer in UK, wouldnt wanna buy it here coz got stupid imitations.. Have to be careful.. No tax imposed on me , Yay..!!

I have also just ordered a custom made stainless steel 4-2-1 exhaust manifold from pugracing UK too, which should be here by end of this month (will post pictures here).. That should free up 10hp as the stock exhaust manifold is damn ugly and F8ckin restrictive.. I plan to dyno my car first next month to see the exact power, i guess it should be around 160hp 185Nm with the K&N filter + Brisk spark plugs + Torco SR5 5w50.. Next dyno would be with 4-2-1, then another dyno with 4-2-1 + the cam kit and final ECU tuning. I expect it to be around 190bhp and 215Nm torque. I will order a set of 45 DCOE Jenvey ITB's and Omex 600 ECU this mid year (have to save another rm10k), which will get roughly 220hp 235Nm perhaps. (maybe more fingers crossed!).. i plan to dyno and tune at GT auto, heard they are good tuners (if anyone has recommendation let me know)..

I will make a video of 0-100, 0-160 and 0-200 in each upgrade so that this test would be a 'benchmark' for others to follow.. Hopefully with this power upgrade, i could keep up with FD2's, dc5, VW gti, ah bengs eg6/ek9 type R, renault megane rs (thats a bit too optimistic) and other 200hp++ category cars.. Perhaps, it should be faster though as my 16v have weighted just 1100Kg, me only 67kg.. HAhaha.. smile_tongue.gif .. other stuff i bought are just EBC yellowstuff brake pads and braided brake hose..

.. Ok ok, will keep u guys updated..

Will surely post here.. I have been active here too.. active in Facebook though, MCN group.. lots of citroen and pug enthusiast there too.. lots of gti6 converts too hehe..

Salam & salutations.

Dear all Citroen ZX owners,

I just bought a maroon 1998 Citroen ZX 2.0 (A). Bought it from a second hand car dealer in Butterworth. This is my first Citroen; hence I am looking for fellow ZX owners who could give some tips and pointers on this particular model. Am not sure if I am having an 8V or a 16V engine. I am also looking for a good mechanic who knows this car inside out. Since I'm staying in Ampang, would appreciate if anybody could introduce a mechanic based near Ampang area. Batu Caves or Selayang should be okay too.

If there are any TT gatherings planned for ZX owners, please keep me informed.

My contact number is +6019-2082005 (Malaysia) or +905-3704 151 88 (Turkey) and my e-mail is zaimhq@sgrsb.com.

Thanks.

Cheers & best regards,

Zaim Al-Amin
Sigur Ros Group of Companies.

Salam there is a good Citroen mechanic in Gombak called Harapan auto-lots of spare parts and recon engine parts too.
Contact no 0361886770.

Happy motoring. i used to drive a Xantia for 10 years- solid & comfortable car

Hello , so long i never log back here..

Ok for those who are interested in my little project since 2012, here are the results.. After tune with EMS, i got 186bhp @ 7500rpm and 191nm at 6k rpm.. Not bad for an old engine, before was 182hp at 7.5k rpm with 197nm at 4.5k rpm but using s16 manifold with acav.. i opt for gti6 manifold for more top end.. .. i also done a lot of external mods, like 3.8kg billet flywheel, 500g billet engine pulley, Race piper Pulley, Full race Vibra technic Engine Mounts, Bilstein b6 front dampers, full set powerflex Black series bushes, practically the whole lower suspension is 306 gti already, brakes upgrade to 283mm with EBC yellowstuff brake pads .. and of course yokohama ad08r all four.. Corners amazing, i could say corner karak 200kmph sap sap soi! lol.. of course my project is not over, i plan to chase 200bhp without going itb stay tuned!.. want to whack those k24 hondas.. haha no lah kidding smile.gif

For now really happy la can play with golf gti mk6, audi tt and the likes.. Can tapau standard gti6 (167hp) oso bertiang tiang .. hehe..
here some little acceleration
0-120kmph short sprint, no launch
and

Short race with friend alfa 155 3.0 280hp duke highway smile.gif

Fuyoh, congrats on your works. I did have a soft-spot for Citroen ZXs. It is a fantastic car, nothing moves like a Citroen really. Drives better than most new cars. My uncle had one 3-door model since new, besides the "melting plastics", it is a solid, reliable car, provided it is serviced properly and with the right parts. I am hoping to buy from him smile_tongue.gif

Not only the melting plastics, some become brittle. Take care of wiring joints, they become brittle too.

Yes that is true, i think it comes with age. That applies for any car, nothing last forever. But not bad for a car that is from the early 90s. It stands the test of time id say. Besides wiring, do check for rust. Now the rubber that holds the windscreen also hardened and have cracks.. Im still using the original engine xu10j4. Mine have change a LOT of parts, last week just change rear mounts. Trying to look for a 25mm ARB bar and maybe 23mm torsion bar (all 3) .. that will cost me another rm2k.. the standard torsion bars i think will wear especially after 20 years of usage. Ive spent more than rm30k in 3 years of ownership. Of course, that includes modifying etc. If you are not into modifying, then the figure will be half or even less. Modifying a conti = aint cheap!

My advice for those who wants to modify the XU engine series, GET THE XU10J4RS..! its cheaper (not big fan of EW) and newer, the s16 is becoming old and rare now. The RS has better intake and exhaust manifold to start off with and have many aftermarket parts. Just by changing the ACAV manifold to the gti6, ive gained 5hp, just like that. The power-band moves up like a real GTI , torque curve are pretty linear and dips at 6000rpm with a nice healthy 186hp right up to 7500rpm. Coupled with Billet fly, billet crank pulley and ultra light vernier pulley with light 16" rims, perfect!.. tweak the fuel reg with 4bar (3bar is OEM) with 255 walbro, good enough but i think the yellow injectors are reaching max duty cycle at peak usage.. But for now, it runs like young stallion haha.

Straight line performance, can keep up with newer sport cars like the new AUDI A4 1.8 TFSI no probz, audi TT, or anything that is below 200hp. But its strength lies on its handling and B road mountain drive.
