Hi guys/ladies,
I know there are a lot of writeups regarding car ownership transfer and I have read a lot of those.
But I still have a few questions and my car dealer pointed me to the wrong direction making me wasted a working day.
I'm planning to change my old car to my brother and claim NCD55% for myself.
I have already did my puspakom check (rm30)
I'm now stuck here. Please enlighten me if I m wrong. Planning to take another day off to do this again.
1.I was told to go to JPJ first to cancel my roadtax ( by the insurance company before I can cancel my old insurance)
2. bring the roadtax cancellation slip to insurance company. To cancel and buy new insurance for my brother .
My question.
3.When do I renew the roadtax ?
4.I can only do ownership transfer after I have new roadtax and insurance on my brother's name?
5.does both parties have to be present at JPJ for transfer ?
6. So basically I need to go to JPJ(cancel roadtax)--> ETIQA branch at bangsar( cancel insurance and buy new insurance)-->and back to JPJ again( to change ownership)
Anyone has a better way /idea of getting it done instead of going around town like this ?

Not too sure whether that is new procedure but usually road tax is never cancelled. Just cancel your insurance and your brother buys new insurance .
Once your brother have new insurance can do name transfer already
Yes, both parties must be present. I know only if taking bank loan then the bank can do that without the owners present because bank is taking ownership.
As for road tax for the next renewal better if your brother can buy insurance to cover until that end date then in future he will have insurance and road tax ending the same period/date. This means if your road tax have another 4 months to go, insurance to buy is 16 months, so next road tax renewal he does not need to buy insurance until the next following renewal.

Road Tax are applied to per car CC & per years basic and not according to ownership... so when car changed ownership but road tax don't.

I having the same problem with Etiqa, Etiqa ask me to cancel road tax first.
But I already did owner trasnfership with car dealer via Myeg, and myeg says system already auto cancel roadtax, I call up Etiqa but they says still need roadtax cancellation slip, which I dont have.

Is it Etiqa only problem or apply to all insurance company?
