I have replaced my CBU headunit (Clarion) with Sony 2 DIN player. This model can detach the front panel which can prevent theft. Cost me RM1,500 including rear CMOS camera & installation.

Can we replace the whole unit or we need to buy the dashboard bracket. Please advice. Mine is sonata NF2.4

I'm also interested to get a replacement for the standard clarion player on nf2.4.

Agreed...no regrets getting NF 2.4.....engine is smooth and super quiet....have from time to time re-start engine although it is already running...as cannot hear the engine.......this happened at car wash too.....personnel there thought engine was off......need to keep looking at tachometer to confirm engine status....fuel consumption and power are acceptable....servicing costs also affordable bordering cheap....

For information only - I have replaced original alternator - original lasted 8 years - price of new original alternator RM550 excluding labour for installing....a reconditioned one costs RM750 plus labour.

Also replaced driver side door window as it was shattered possibly by a stone/rock splinter from passing traffic - original Hyundai window imported is RM350 plus labour - local made Hyundai window is RM250 plus labour.

Hi Guys,

Update. My car 150k kms recently came up with Check Engine Light. A quick scan with my el-cheapo bluetooth OBDII scanner yielded P0011 -"A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1) fault code.

This is an issue with the Oil Control Valve -common problem for those Sonata NF before year 2010.

In my next post, I'm gonna show you guys where to get the Oil Control Valve replacement and how much - that is when I get hold of the replacement part this coming weekend. FYI Hyundai came out with the revised part sometime mid 2009.

the replacement part cost RM180. U can get it from NewEra Auto OUG. Just ask for Terrence. Part Number: 24355-2G000 is the revised new version of Oil Control Valve.

Yes, the light comes off and on.. however, it could be problem P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold-Bank 1) which is another problem I've encountered with my Sonata NF whenever I pumped Petro* at some dodgy places - which I suspect the fuel might be mixed (i believe this as in the early 90s one of my relative who used to drive petrol tanker makes RM10k per month adulterating fuel). You can try putting 1 litre of automotive paint lacquer thinner into half tank of your petrol and run it high speed for 20mins on the highway. Else, a few full tank of Shell F1 running on highway might solve this. This problem is because our Catalytic Converter is operating below 95% efficiency. I solved mine by pumping BHP. The problem will be gone after a week or 2...

The absence of a scanner wouldn't tell u anything with the check engine light. If u're nearby puchong/bkt jalil, do PM me and I can arrange for u to come visit me and i can help you diagnose for free. Help you clear the light first, and if it reappears, u will know what problem is that. Usually mechanic make money by just clearing CEL for RM60... I do it for the passion of repairing car.

I'll post on how to change the OCV soon..

Hi All,

I replaced throttle body for Sonata NF 2.4 this year for RM 550 with new unit but did not solve the slight vibration problem hence the old used one is still serviceable. If anyone needs one which is still serviceable, please let me know.

I also replaced the cooling fan assembly with unbranded Korean made ones for RM 280 and RM 550 when the old one jammed up but these cheaper ones did not last more than 3 months. I ended up ordering a new original cooling fan assembly unit for RM 1,233.

I also replaced the main power window switch assembly (driver's door) for RM 314.

The above is for general information.
