Hi!

Are you driving a Volvo and are facing these seemingly "unsolvable" issues?

- ECM-6805 turbocharger tc control valve
- boost pressure fault resulting in too high pressure
- CEM-3A01 fuel pump signal "missing"

Also, these mechanical issues:

- gearbox
- "unrepairable" long shaft

Call Michael at 012-3273989 to see if he can help you. His workshop is in Puchong.

So this is marketing post ?????

all the problems that you mentioned above are just simple "solvable" problem that even I'm not the mechanic also know how to resolved it.

first two CEL are just cause by weaker/oily sticky magnetic valve inside the TCV, replacement new part will solved the problem.
fuel pump signal missing will resolved by replaces weaker fuel pressure regulator/sensor.. or weaker fuel assembly pump.

Gearbox ?? this problem is not just Volvo problem but overall automobile industry problem.. and to prolong your Volvo GB life time is very much depend on how your driving style and maintenance scheduled is. so don't blame on Volvo.

Long shaft problem?? ...is your car XC 90 ? or XC70 ?? , if follow every 60-70k mileage drain & replace of AWD angel gears & differential gear oil scheduled then both the AWD gears will work perfectly and your long shaft should last you as long as the car life spend as long shaft operation are very much depend on how smooth are the both the AWD gears operation...otherwise rm4-15K replacement parts are require.

Hahaha....how do u know I never face these problems before ? as I said i'm not mechanic by profession but I had passion and interest to learn every thing about my car.. otherwise how do I know all these problem are "solvable".... see my signature for what I had done on my car and also I don't think I need Mike service as I know a better workshop that are much better knowledge with reliable skill that able to solved all the problem that mentioned you.

FYI, my car are also AWD, the first Volvo AWD sedan car that produced 300bhp that running on high pressure turbo. so turbo, long shaft problem are all between my knowledge and as well the fuel pump problem. maybe in the future, you can post your car problem here that I can give my little knowledge of advise before you go to Mike. smile_approve.gif

Sorry, I don't familiar with Gombak/Setapak/Ampang area Volvo workshops although I knew that is few Volvo specialist workshops there but problem is i never been there.. if you don't mind, i can recommended my regular workshop for you, but he is at Jalan Kuchai lama of jalan klang lama.

and for your SRS light and CEL light, you need those workshops that equip with VIDA software computer to diagnostic your car CEM to pin point the source, the kuchai lama workshop had one.

Bro. I am interested in getting a used V40 T4. I know maintenance will be different from your AWD. But just as a rough guide, can I know maintenance cost on yours, so far. How much are you spending per year. Where can I get spare parts. Are spares expensive compaired to other contis. Appreciate a workshop contact in PJ area.

Any failure pron aspect or problem issues on the T4?

Since V40 T4 are only 4 cylinders 178bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged, so this car are quite different from those 5 cylinders 2.0T, T5's or R, with smaller engine CC mean this car are not mean for high speed performance instead it's for energy saving intention (therefore parts failure are low chances ). and long as your keep the car in original condition and performance regular maintainers according to manufacturer schedule/spec will help to prolong the premium condition ( but , I will still recommended fuel changed (engine oil & transmission fuel) to be changed earlier by half of recommend mileage (every 20K Km) by your own )
and also due to this car are still new in the market ( parts will not commonly available at open market spare parts stockiest yet ) and also it's still under warranty ( 3+2 years ) and therefore I can't think off why you are worry about outsider service center at this moment ?

So if you decided to buy this car, you can just enjoy the car when it's under warranty until the time come when warranty are over...then you can post the question again then I can tell you where exactly to buy the parts as well which the out side service workshop to go..

Tks for your feedback. I am evaluating a couple of Contis at present. My decision depends largely on the cost of maintenance after warranty as I intent to keep the car for a long while.

With T4 being new,I realize open market spares will be difficult to come by at the moment. If future sales volume is low, open market spares may not be available. That's understandable, no one will invest on something that is slow moving. I certainly will not get this car if SC is only place in Malaysia for spares and maintenance after warranty. At the moment that's a bit of a gamble as we got to wait to see how popular this model gets!

I too believe to a great extent on preventive maintenance!

To be honest to you, owing a Volvo by a none Volvo hardcore is a big risk of gambling, this is worldwide trend that most new Volvo owner's will curse Volvo when their car are failing apart...only those hard core's will mati mati defect their choice. many of my Volvo buddy had swift to other marque after their car broke down...
