Never did like to buy online. Bought before rechargeable battery and all fakes....

Of course buy from authorized dealers, get a peace of mind. Anything wrong also can fall back on them.

Just tumpang tanya, i am new to this ICE, heard that if speakers are too high power relative to the HU, these will shorten the life of the HU, Is this true?

Also do i tune the HU to its fullest, i mean bass and treble and tune minimun on the amplifier, or tune the amplifier to its fullest while let the HU be in its flat mode?

Thanks for any replies.

Not an expert in this field, but in an audio system the HU, speakers and amplifier should go hand in hand. Speakers that are too high powered, you may not be able to power it up. But I see that you mention amplifier, in that case the power now comes from the amp and not driven by the HU power.
Tuning again depends on the individual on what they like to listen to. Bass or treble. Then again, the type of music. It is to get the best balance, not maximum power.... smile_tongue.gif

Thanks for the reply, actually my Alza still under warranty and I don't want to modify the wiring too much, so I changed the HU to the supposedly OEM double din type, but of course the sound still can not compare with those HU from say Japan made, and I added one simple subwoofer with built-in amplifier to add juice to the bass, so Iget the terrible bass if I turn half the volume of the amp. Now I minimise the volume of the amp and maximise the treble volume of the HU and I get better sound combination. Regret to buy these components.

Oh! you bought the active sub woofer. That unit is just to add a little bass to your listening pleasure only but can save space. If you like those heavy bass, you will need a separate amplifier and a passive sub woofer in a box. Active sub really have limitation on the bass volume. I have one test unit in my spare car and is more or less kept at middle or very slightly higher only. Too much and it pumps out bass that cracks and vibrates....

I think the speakers will kaput first.
In order for the speakers to sound one has to crank up the volume control on the HU, resulting in clipped signals to be sent to the speakers. Overtime the voice coils will be "burnt" by these signals. This is evident by the klak klak sound produced. On top of this , it is not advisable to use the power output from the HU as it comes with loads of distortions and certainly overated.

changing speakers will only bring you "minor" improvements.

for you to have proper impact (vs budget).

you will need to rebuild your sound system from scratch.

changing head-unit, amp, and speakers will do the trick.

swapping speakers will spoilt the stock crossover setup and also power management for speakers.
