Dear setisfai,
I have the same problem when driving over puddles of water during heavy downpour or splashing through lots of water on the road. The battery lights would come on and the steeering would be heavy. Must be the water splashed on the alternator coz can hear the belt screeching to clear the water and it will be back to normal. Risky to drive like that esp when heavy rain.
Could it be time to replace the belts?

Hi Dieselmarc,
Thanks for sharing the info but I appreciate if you can describe this problem more details coz I can't imagine it via my wife explaination.
Oh I have sent to NSS Glenmarie as well last Saturday, talk to Christopher regarding this issue and he said they will plug-in the computer and check if there is any error code. You know what the result is no error code and no fault detected. Then they spray my car with water and test drive also does not encounter this issue. Ask me to send my Rondo again so that they can test during raining :-).
To be honest I drove my Rondo into heavy downpour last Sunday very2 heavy raining but not encounter any incident as well.
Pening already coz I'll be driving back to hometown for GE13 this coming weekend, pray hard for safe journey.
Regards.

Ok now that make more sense because my wife also mentioned that she heard the similar screeching sound too and I really tought it could be the brake or something around the tyres.
Please highlight this theory on alternator belting getting lock when it is wet, in your next visit to NSS hopefully they could manage to simulate it. I had never change any belting so far so no idea.

I also encounter this issue on heavy rain when going throw paddle of water.. the steering become very heavy with screeching sound coming from engine. Brake & battery light up..i pull a side and RAM my engine until belt screeching is gone. And everything back to normal.. very scary !! what happen if it happen on highway drive.. life threatening !

Thanks Sugen for sharing your experience.
At least now we can confirm that this incident is quite consistent:
1. during heavy rain.
2. brake & battery warning light flashing.
3. screeching sound coming from ENGINE.
4. possibily due to beltings get in touch with water and something triggered the system.
I will send my Rondo to Bandar Baru Klang SC with information above and see how they troubleshoot.
