hi everyone,
i got a question here..
my saga just clock around 2k of mileage..
i just wondering,is aircond will cause high FC of the car?
for example, last 2 days i drove the saga to kl..
after tol sg.besi, the fuel bar cost me 3 bar, driving speed around 100-120 and aircond on all the way.
driving back to melaka with the same route, with the same speed and aircond off all the way,the fuel bar only cost me 1 bar.
is it should be like that?
thanks.

Yes Air conditioning will affect FC but around 10-15% increase. There is a lot of factor and you cannot compare driving in the morning when air is dense at around 25degC with that of driving in the afternoon with temperatures reaching above 32degC.

But the main factor is how you drive. The keyword is Specific Fuel Consumption. Autospeed.com has very good articles on these. It talks about performance under load and at partial throttle openings.

At speeds of more than 80km/h, aerodynamic drag becomes more of a contributing factor. Unfortunately, the Saga is a tall machine. Therefore more area hitting against the air. More drag. Accelerating at speed above 80km/h is more work than if you're accelerating from a standing start. More work = more fuel.

Also consider that if you drive with a full tank, you have a lot of weight. Roughly Petrol is 0.8kg/litre. If you fill up 30 litres of RON 95, you'll have 24kg of fuel. Since you'll be stopping at an R+R anyway to get a bite to eat or even the use of the toilet, plan your fuel. When you start travelling, fill up enough for you to get to the pump at the R+R. There is something to be learned from F1 after all!

I just got my flx 1.6SE two weeks ago..
I'm wondering why my Fuel Consumption is around RM0.225 per KM.
I've used up RM90 to run 400KM.
May i know is there anyway to reduce my car FC?
FYI, my average speed running in town is only 60-90 KM/H with 2 or 3 passengers including driver.
No highway drive before this.
Thanks a lot and have a nice day smile.gif

ignore the low fuel sign....i noticed almost 80km drive between low fuel signal to really empty tank....thats y most ppl canot theoritically full tank..by right it should be 40 litres if im not mistaken...bt fuel pump at petrol station always show 30 or 33 litres then it says its full tank....

i get around 440km on my 1.3 flx...bt spirited driving lucky if i get 300km!

I have similar issue. I think my FC is even worse.

I just bought a 2yo FLX 1.6SE. Mileage around 37k.
I've sent for service, everything in good original condition.
Previous owner also have full service record, the car is in excellent condition.

However my fuel consumption is very horrible, around 250km @ RM60 (RON95).
I drive in city (at least 90% of the time), around 70-90km/h usually, around 2k rotate.

What's wrong with the car? How to improve the FC?
I saw many can hit 300KM with RM50 fuel, is it until dry or until fuel signal just blink?

if the car is intip top condition as u mention then check yr driving style.
any engine which is driven in agressive manner will contribute to high fc.
the bigger the engine, the worst the fc will be in city.
however its not suppose to be that worse.
if u drive as usual then check yr spark plugs....its near due.
i am saying this as i can manage better fc in a wira 1.5 auto than an auto blm in city by simplynchanging my driving style.

other than thay, the iafm could be tue cause.did u notice any knocking sound frm the engine?
if ues then the iafm needs to be replave.

how do u exactly calculate ur fc?
