There are anti-trust or anti-competition laws which prohibit companies from forcing consumers to use only their product (in this case, diesel engine oils) where alternatives are widely available.
Otherwise we are all screwed whenever we choose in this case a Ford Ranger.
I'm certain these laws exist in developed economy, should be the same for M'sia too with the passing of anti-competition act not many months ago.
There must be some among us bros' who are from the legal fraternity. Would like to invite them to offer their opinion.

And still no news from SDAC on the rust issue. Ford Thailand has issued a statement that the rust, will not cause much problem of safety and performance issues on Ford Ranger. Well, it's up to you to believe it or not.

Nope.
Another news (or rumors), beginning 2013, Ranger price will increase (3k - 5k). This is from testimony of some owners who bought new Rangers and are informed by SA. This actually not limited to Rangers, but Ford Cars.
