Im new to this forum. However, im intended to buy a rexton for me. I have read all the comments and posts at this forum and it intrigues me and i decided to join and to ask for futher details.
I wanted to buy a Rexton (2004) second-hand priced at RM32k and a 2.9 Diesel Engine. It has nice interior as it is leather caramel/brownish like material. I think.
But i do not know whether the engine is Merc manufactured or does every Rexton's engine is Merc compliance and manufactured like. could someone provide me with a bit of a details of Rexton engine.
This particular Rexton has run for about 100km now. Question is, its durability, is it worth buying as i want to buy for my day to day used afterwards..in other word to lenjan habis2..kereta cari makan la as im trading it with my satria neo. I always like SUV type of cars.
So far for Rexton users and with the current market Diesel price, how do you guys its fuel consumption?
As it runs under Diesel engine, what do you guys think of it sound/engine roaring something like that? bising tak?
As it has run about 100km now, what can i expect in the future maintenance cost? Any particular parts that i need to check out before buying? the engine, belting or what others?
Thank you.

RX270 is better choice with newer engine and 5 speed tiptronic transmission for better power, FC and more reliable. RX290 tends to have more problem especially with the gearbox.
If you can add a little more to you budget to about RM42k, there is a 2004 RX270XDI avail from direct owner. PM me your contact if you are interested.

Quite a few Rexton listed on Mudah.my, check these out that is about RM40k. There are quite a few bros in KL who could help you to test drive for free.

Both are full accessory spec with part time 4WD, the best option available.

RX270XDI Luxury Spec comes AWD, can identify by the front wheel without locking hub like this one

Better handling and gripping but lower FC and got to change all 4 tires together.

I see. ok. i have just checked out Rexton 2.7 2004 diesel at kajang. Looking good and have ran at 90km+ now. Im considering buying it as they are offering at RM36k now. But i havent test drive it yet. I'll do it within this week. i have also booked it just in case as so far it is the cheapest i could get and still in good shape.
So my question is, what to expect if the Rexton is already running at 90k KM now? what would i incur as to cost for the next maintenance as im pretty darn sure that this is Merc alike engine-produced.
Also, if im opt to buy it, where can i get cheapest service workshop for the Rexton but maintain its quality too?
to be honest, this is my first time ever try to have a SUV. all i have done is driving sedan car. its time to change and drive a SUV now haha
