Unresolved Recurring Problem / Issue with my Naza Forte 1.6SX

1. Soft buzzing sound everytime i first step on the accelerator pedal, usually occuring around 1000RPM.

2. Harshness when going over bumps / uneven roads / high speeds above 110km/h. Suspension? Rims? It feels like "swaying".

3. Steering turns to the left by itself. Tyre shops "solved" the pulling to the left problem by pumping more air into the left tyres and less air into the right tyres. 32 vs 29. But the steering wheel still shifts to the left when going over bumps.

If your Forte 1.6SX is the non-facelift version, I could help you a bit.

1. The soft buzzing sound is the sound of the engine. Try with several other brands, you will notice the difference between the engine sound.
>>Forte, Inspira and Lancer have similar sound, it's light raaa.
>>Latio's engine sounds like sewing machine, dunno how to make, listen to "Singer" phrew
>>Ford has the tiny muscle car sound
>>Toyota Vios engine sounds like old car but not noisy. Altis engine is more silent
>>Honta engine when new is quiet, you could hear more high rev for the underpowered City 1.5 and Accord 2.0 when you are ferrying cargo

2. The 17" inch tyres will be stiff. Any car with normal hydraulic suspension, fitting 17" rims onwards will not enjoy soft ride.

3. The steering going to the left, thanks to Naza SC wrong guide on the alignment. You need to get tyre shop to realign the front camber. Don't follow Naza's.

I think it's the low profile tyres... previously I sat in a Vios with low profile tyres... the exact same "unstable" feeling...

Another Vios with standard thick tyres did not have this problem.

Low profile tyres do make noise. I was taken aback when I test drove the optima K5.

mine is a 2010 forte , 4 speed
i have kluk kluk sound when passing un even road ,
but it have no sound when it pass by humps , it only appear if it is uneven road or hole on road .
brought to SC , they checked the absorber say is ok , it say there is a loosen screw near absorber and they have tighten it ,
but the problem is same , and the sound become more frequent and loud now ..
HELP !

Mine experiance before...and this problem due to absober...maybe need to change with new one...

last time they said is not a absorber problem , mine warranty is going to due next month , the problem occurs about 3 months ago (last service ) and is service time again ,
what should i do ?

so ask them change lah...

changed 4 new absorber , but the sound is still there ...

Though i don't drive a Forte but i think i can give some of my personal opinions based on my personal experiences as i face the same problems before with my cars.

1. I think its the natural sound of your engine. Try driving on other units to monitor. Another cause could be, one of the rubber boots / insulator / rubber plugs around the firewall could be missing, causing sound intrusion into the cabin.

2. How old is your car? Check your absorbers (which is most unlikely), stabilizer bar link bushes, brake caliper pin free play (very popular noise source) and engine mountings. Don't be surprised when i said check your engine mountings. I myself went through this. I replaced several undercarriage parts with the pure determination to try to narrow down the cause of the annoying noise like you mentioned. At the final stage, both mechs and i do not know what causes it and since i thought why not change the engine mounts since it was slightly vibrating already and since i have bought the spares months earlier. To my shock and mech's surprise, after changing the engine mounts, it's all SILENT. And ever since, there is no more noises like you mentioned.

3. If not mistaken Forte rides on 215 45 R17 wheels right? Ok, based on my personal experiences with my two cars running on 205 45 R16 and another car running on 205 45 R17. Are you running on stock tires? If you are not, then what TYPE of tires you are on right now? Bear in mind, tires with "V" groove / shaped threads will always (almost always) in later time, cause a situation what is known as TRAMLINING.

This is where such tires will actually follow the contours of the road. Some tire shops will swear it does not, but trust me.... after wasting a lot of money to solve it, i know. Such tire threads are very good at grip which is a plus. But, for one, it produces more noise due to the design and two, it will (most likely) tend to follow contours on the road and you will find yourself keep holding onto the steering wheel to keep in line. Some are mild and some are very WILD which i used before too and i tell you, it is nerve wrecking. Low profile tires such as below 50 series (the thinner the stiffer it is) got stiffer sidewalls and therefore, this contributes a bit to it too (just a LITTLE bit). So no need to worry about this. Another thing, running on different tire pressures, it does help a LITTLE bit. But that is not solving the issues.
