actually during the presentation , few engineers wer present and thy clearly mentioned that the throttle and ecu was tuned for gradual speed build up and not suden rush of torque as in the exora BD...thy wanted the car to be classified as refined cruiser ...in that way...a driver never feels hes driving a turbo engine charecterstic so to enhance the smooth drive experience....

its all in the tune up....diferent cars tuned diferently....
u can check few local websited for the interview !

too bad malaysian in general don't really care. this is why sometimes its important to localize the product.. just like how Coca-Cola or Marmite taste slightly diff in diff country because the formula is altered to fit local tastebuds...

I did not really feel the turbo boost though floored it several times, so in a way agreed P1 has successfully masqueraded it; but the take off became so sluggish smile_blackeye.gif

Cruiser it may be but certainly not refined, esp mated with d loud engine noise.

a lot of refined car came with a heathy throttle. so we hope proton at least give consumers with a more sharper throttle response car.

Since they are using E-throttle, it would take very much for them to put a sport button. So when you activate it the throttle sharpens up. Thats the beauty of having e-throttle you can have 3 different types of throttle response map:

1. Eco = Tekan also wont go

2. Normal

3. Sport = tekan 30% throttle = 50% butterfly valve open.

So we wait and see lah if they do or not.

I agree on that one, however, I can release information for my company which is Punch, not for proton.
I just know that Proton is aware and as I know Proton they will adjust. It is indeed just the pedal map, the car is not slower but is feels sluggish because you have to apply a lot of throttle to get the car going.

hi kristof. i not sure who to ask. so im asking you, if you've heard anything about Preve ecu remapped? Several member says the newer batch of Preve and those who got their ECU remapped by SC has eliminated that initial laggy response. Since you're the only insider here, can you find out if its the rumor is true? Thank you...

It is always "risky" to get the first batch of cars.

There will be teething problems and hopefully they can be fixed.

Many manufacturers are going towards CVT for fuel economy and smoother ride. I can attest to this since I drive a Honda City.

BUT I am also aware of the complications and problems that you can have. Even the Honda SC have no clue how to fix some issues with the CVT sometimes (or most of the time).

To match a CVT to a turbocharged engine on a brand new car like Preve... many many variables come into play..

Dear all,

in contrary to Honda, Punch Powertrain will set up a local Branch to support Proton on all problems that Proton would face with the CVT. furthermore our guys will travel around to fix or determine problems around malaysia, together with the proton Group after sales.

regarding the ECU remapping, i cannot release info yet. I can tell you Proton and Punch work together on the subject and will come out with a solution for the sluggish feel shortly. As i mentioned before we have to meet fuel consumption standards as well. Proton can make the car feel very fast, I can assure you that (tests) but we need a good balance and that takes some time... .

Hi all,

As some of you know I work for punch powertrain, the Belgian company that delivers CVT units to proton.
I am very interested what your feedback is on driveability of our CVT for the different models.

feedback can be (examples!):

It feels to lazy in D but L mode is OK
Or
I don't get why u use the SAT mode, it's rubbish
Or
I like it al lot, it's comfortable low rmp and quite in D and sporty in SAT

...

Thanks!
Please keep in mind that all feedback is used for further improvement of our product and the calibration of the different modes D,L,S,SAT,...

Dear Kristof,

When do we use the SAT button ? is it during climbing steep road or can we use it during traffic jam ? please advise.

Dear Kristof,

Just to follow up have Punch & Proton came out with the solution on the sluggishness on the engine kick back ? Secondly I experience several times on my new Exora CFE bold on the engine tends to die off when switching from forward to reverse and vv with 1 experience the engine actually died off and need to be restart. Please advise.
