Wctan, I just visited Singapore and repaired the ac compressor this afternoon.

Reach there at 12 noon, at aircond spare part shop, check the price sgd 450 with new piping to match the compressor, brand dawoo Korea. The boss said same model with their carens in Singapore. Asked where change it, cos I am afraid of wrong parts so opted nearby shop. He recommended next door shop.dun need to pay 1st as may need to change other part if the compressor snap inside and containmated the system. Proceed to change the compressor at the workshop. The boss checked by release the gas, actually liquid -color clear, should the clutch bearing spoilt and quoted sgd 120.00 for the job. Started at 12:30 noon.

The tech proceed to dismantle the compressor, taken out and found the oil become very dirty so no choice need to clean up the whole system. Additional 2 more jobs 1) condenser need to taken out for internal cleaning and 2) piping need to purge out dirt from the broken compressor. The tech do it very carefully and clean the whole system until no dirt appear.

Since took out the condenser, need to change the desicant as also become very blackie. Take from next door. Further check the belt, no sign of crack, do not need to change. At this time I saw they are selling the cabin filter, asked how much, the hcc brand at sgd 12.

Completed the job at 4pm. Hurray my aircond very cool now, in fact the engine become very light. Just like the 1st day car from show room. The job cost me sgd 150.

Total I spend :

Parts + gst = sgd 512
Labour + gst = sgd 150
Total = sgd 662.

Go n figure out our naza so crazy for profit. Also I checked with several aircond shop in jb, most told me if system contaminated, labour cost around rm400 to 500. Dun forget Singapore rental and labour rate are higher than us. Why they charge higher in jb???

Wow! You are definitely ahead of me! smile_big.gif

Part of the reason I am not worried about our ride is because our neighbour across the causeway will definitely have the parts and skill sets to resolve issues that our our SCs cannot tackle. In face so far I have gotten all my wear and tear parts there. Glad that you have your problem solved, and hope you have a good trip? Just curious, which area you went to? Sin Ming? Is it recommendation from friend?

As for me, my ride (same year as yours) is approaching 55k kms and I am planning to send it for a/c full servicing soon. Heard Aircon Station at PJ have special flushing equipment that will do a good job? Not sure if any bros here have heard of it.. heard they can recover, clean then recharge the lub in the compressor?

In an case, I am glad that you are enjoying your ride again! It is still nice to see that we are still driving one of the unique model OTR! I still have people asking me 'what model is that har?' Haha!

Wctan, actually not so enjoy going in as so hot and stuffy at the checkpoint. Sweating like hell, this also may caught the officer attention thought I am done or carry something fishy until "cold sweating" smile_tongue.gif I got the shop by searching at internet. The supplier near the SL sq, Pely Aircond did not keep this stock.

Sugen, the shop details is System Top Pte Ltd, located at Blk 3015 Ubi Road 1. Look for Ah Heng, helpful and friendly guy. The installer just the next door. In fact that 2 rows of shops all doing vechicle repair related business, just like 1 stop center. They all are clean not like our local bengkel area, dirty and messy.

Setisfai, I've called Naza Kia careline to complaint on the pricing, the Gentlemen, Faiza told me this is their official listed price, fix @ RM 3778.05. Than I calculated for him the percentage of this compressor price vs my purchase vechicle price, I bought it around 80K (after discount and Insurance NCV in 2008), this compressor alone stand for 4.72% of the total purchase price of the new vechicle smile_angry.gif Bunch of Monkey at Naza runing the Kia business. If they insist with this type of pricing strategy, very soon Kia will out of business in Malaysia. I would be the one would not get another Kia for sure.

sugen, as chinese idioms saying "Tian siah wu yah yi yang hei", (Birds of a feather flock together) the result will be the same. Anyway I've send an article to Malay Mail via email, see if they dare to publish it or not.

To Rondorian, beware of Naza whenever they quote the price, especially rare part, they slaughter you till last drop of blood.

Hoprfully Malay Mail will highlight our plight on Kia vechicle, no second hand value and now hit by the crazy sparepart price!

Naza SC are really damn expensive.

I was quoted around Rm380 and Rm300 for replacing my front and rear brake pad. I declined as my 2 year warranty is up and went to my neighbourhood tyre shop and did it for less than Rm250 (front and rear korean made brake pad) .

Really don't feel like going back to them for oil change service anymore....
