Apple to apple comparison, diesel engine more efficient and green than petrol and sometimes even beat hybrid!
Using Porsche Cayenne for comparison:-

that's also why EC gives incentives for diesel vehicle owerships and the European maker even went further producing smaller engine capacity with turbo charged to churn attractive hp. see recent releases of European vehicles... even the petrol Pug 508 is only 1.6L. VW, BMW, MB and Audi petrol engines stayed between 1.8 and 2.0L for D segment.....but no compromising the hp performances
fully agree but most of not all these vehicles cannot come to Malaysia because they are mostly EuroV diesel conformance.... Canland proudly have EuroII when Tomyamland and Singaland already have EuroIV. In canland, the merit for pollution goes in different order, diesel last, sangat kotor mentality. hybrid gets free parking (in PJ).
one more thing, those days diesel was cheaper (until 2008) thus higher roadtax (yeah green diesel engines get half) but today diesel equals to ron95 but roadtax? outdated canland can think? eastcanland gave better reason for diesel vehicle ownerships...

agree diesel of similar capacity has lower exhaust emission.
but against a hybrid which switches of engine altogether at speeds below 40kph and stationary, that is ZERO emission which is still unbeatable by diesels.
but the new peug diesel hybrids must be excellent though, combining the best of 2 worlds.

Diesel don't have polluting dead battery to worry about.
I prefers to use my head than follow the crowd. After all, it is my money and not theirs.

you forgotten billions of mobile phone batteries, or laptop, iphone and many more applications that are already around us which pollute as well. and did not contribute anything at all to the environment.

True, but then you have to worry about diesel fumes that cause cancer and belong in the same potentially deadly category as asbestos, arsenic and mustard gas.

Diesels are for those who wants low fuel consumption but still like powerful/torquey drive....anyway, diesel hybrids would be perfect! (in the jam can crawl using full battery mode)

If tats true, then probably number of people died of cancer and heart decease due to cigarets, cok*, Mc* can easily surplus diesel bro. How come nobody seems to care?
