Hongkie,

When did you get your car? Does your car come with Autolock? or you asked the service center to set it after purchasing ur car?

Mine is march 2011, and it doesn't come with auto-lock. 80% of the time, I forget to lock it. I still dont get use to lock the car by myself when im driving the car. used to drive an auto lock car.

My car's autolock was not set by me. Took car and it was already like that.

Anyone had:

1. Problem with diesel quality?

2. Downgrade the tyres to 16"?

3rd gen SF seems to sacrifice a bit the 3rd row seats... might be a little bit cramp due to aerodinamic shape.
anyway see how it coming to here.
i oso waiting for it too.

Hi sfw816,
If they bring in the lengthened version, the 3rd row seat should be better than current Santa Fe except that it'll belong to equivalent to Mazda CX9 category which will be priced higher at RM190k est.

If they wanted to focus on affordability and sales volume, more likely they'll fit 3rd row on the standard version that is similar to Sorento class. Then 3rd row space will be less.

Hi Ronald,

Don't have to worry about the diesel engine. The non-FL Santa Fe that has been around since 2008 clocking over 200,000km still running in 1 piece. They replaced the high performance injectors to lower pressure injectors to cater to our lower grade fuel. Same goes to petrol engine with GDI in Ford and later on Mazda.

If you downgraded to 16", the ride will be more comfortable than 17". The old non-FL Santas are running on 16" with older suspension. The current FL Santas are using revised suspension that is better than the non-FL Santas, if fitted with 16" should have better comfort. Thing is, if you downgrade to 16", you'll have to buy new tyres and for the rims, try to force them to trade in with your 17" at higher price. Don't let them cheat you kawkaw as they will try to sell your 17" ori rim at even higher price to new buyer later on.

Pardon my ignorance. When did they introduce the FaceLift?

Mine came with 18" (235/60/18). Not quite right. So wanted to downgrade it to 16". Will be keeping the 18" sets, so no concern on trade-in price.

What was the 16" tire specs on the pre-FL Santa?

18" is good size for this ride but tires are higher priced, 16" tires not good to me, but tires much cheaper.
in between 17" is better than 16" - tires can get from rm400 to 800/pc range - so there is a tyres price choice for you.
just my 2 cts

Hi jayraptor,

regarding 3rd gen SF,
We wait and see what spec they bring. But for me, i will not buy the 1st batch.
Let them improve 1st. ex. no auto lock ==> got autolock. 16inch ==> 18inh, no gps ==> got gps
and etc.
and wait for last year model ==> so can get big discount.
so roughly they will introduce it in 2013. i ll buy they 2015 onwards one. see my budget oso.
Cheers guys!

Hi sfw816,

Please do take your time. Don't have to rush when comes to buying car. Local car companies seems to be waiting for the big event to pass by taking deposit for booking only at the moment and start selling only later. Cars that they are selling at the moment are existing stock taken out of the warehouse. Probably you'll have more choices and brands to choose later on at better offer.
