I should conclude it as a 'standard practice' by our law enforcer. smile_approve.gif
To collect kopi $$ is a normal procedure. No money pay or don't want pay, then only use different protocol to deal with the offender, or I should said 'designated offender' as in most cases they are actually not breaking any law.

Most (if not all) insurers will send out renewal notice by snail-mail one month before expiry.
There is no reason to forget to renew insurance and road tax.
Imagine if involve in accident, what can other parties claim since your insurance expired ? FYI, you can't claim other insurance also (even if it is not your fault) since they will reject your claim coz you driving without valid insurance & road tax.

Just pay the summon, and this will be a good reminder for you every year.

Lucky it's just summon from police for expired road tax (aka LKM) offense provided the officer did not make that summon non-compoundable. If JPJ, you better be prepared for the grave consequences, ie confiscation of the vehicle (i will be more happy if the driver of the vehicle that have road tax expired more than 3 months or driving without valid road tax and insurance cover will just thrown into lockup right away rather than endanger themselves and others in addition of vehicle confiscation)
