I think you guys have heard about Euro NCAP. What do you if this NCAP implemented in ASEAN region?

Will it be better for the community?

NCAP is still NCAP..

be it europe or japan or asia or any other region....

the question is...does the asian's standard up to par with euro and japan (or any other related)

It's a ploy to trick those who may not read properly. Marketing ploy also.

When I was in China, I was surprised to see many car ads with 5 stars NCAP. But when I read closely, it is C-NCAP smile_blackeye.gif
I did not do further check, but I suspect a 5-stars C-NCAP maybe equivalent to 3-4 stars NCAP only. My own assumption lah.

NCAP is a consumer based program. Be it C-NCAP or Euro NCAP, the test methods are almost the same.

The only different is the type of dummy to be used and also crash configuration.

Do you think the same car sold in Europe is the same in Malaysia?

Not 100% all the cars sold in Europe are same in Malaysia.
Some have been tuned down due to our constant 4-season of summer.
Some are using different technology, like to cater to our dirty-diesel, instead of Euro-2 or Euro-4 diesel.

However, the local cars sold in Malaysia, is definitely different from the ones they sold in Europe. smile_blackeye.gif

Of couse European and ASEAN have different standards which are largely due to market needs and regulations in the respective countries.

Without regulation, we cannot go far beyond any standard car out there. Therefore, this NCAP is hope to shed a light towards better vehicle in term of safety in this region.
