From the news contect, seems like the driver was on the phone with family member, then suddenly line cut-off. Not long after police call to inform the accident. smile_disapprove.gif One of the passenger just a new friend known for only a day as they take the same bus balik kampong.
Ram me if you can!

Looks like a very old hatchback or..... should be some car around 80's. Beyond my recognition, as the photo got censored the part where 3 bodies being mashed together with steel. smile_cry.gif

It is sad to witness accident scenes such as these, especially when lives are lost in the mishap.

About 6 years ago, I have personally seen a body of a woman cut into half at the torso lying on the middle of the road. It was early in the morning at that time, about 7.00am and the ambulance had not arrived on scene yet. At first glance I didn't expect the big piece of "luggage" to be that of a human being. When I drove closer, I initially thought it was a big doll or something that got rolled off from a lorry. Upon closer view, I was horrified to see that it's an accident victim cut into half. The bottom half of the body was located several metres from the upper body. All vehicles slowed down when approaching the severed body, and one lady passenger on the another vehicle was seen covering her mouth with her arms in disbelief. Vehicles manoeuvred slowly to avoid having their tyres covered with internal organs of the victim.

Once we see a severed body such as these, we will then realise how fragile life is.

On the next day, the accident was reported on The Star. Apparently the dead victim was riding pillion on a motorbike driven by her husband. It was reported that a huge container or tanker knocked down the husband and wife on the motorbike and rolled over the pillion driver which subsequently caused her life. The husband who sustained minor injuries got back up on his feet after being knocked down and started searching for his wife. God knows what was in his mind when he saw the state of his wife in two pieces.

I am not sure if the culprit was identified, though it was reported that the driver did not stop the vehicle and drove on even though he knew he had knocked down a motorbike(perhaps he knew he may have caused a life).

It is good that Chinese papers such as Sin Chew Jit Poh show such accident scenes. The English papers usually do not publish such pictures.

I am not sure why Chinese papers like to publish such garish pictures. I am not so sure they actually work to deter accidents. Consider the photos they print on cigarette boxes in Malaysia. I think smokers see those photos until they are numb/immune.

I have also seen disturbing photos on accidents on the web as well as in some police stations. Look absolutely horrific. I saw one that look like twisted cloth on the road but upon closer look was actually a mangled body. There is also a photo of a baby with the top part of the baby's skull neatly sliced off.

Probably the smokers don't even see the pics on the box. If fact, it is the non smokers that are put off by the pics.... smile_blackeye.gif

Bingo.

Those photos on cigarette box are not to warn existing smokers, but to keep non-smokers from getting into one. smile_thumbup.gif

Nothing can stop me from smoking. But I do not smoke in places that not allow to or when no one else is smoking. I'll excuse myself to outside premises to have a quick one when really in need.

My dad stopped smoking overnight the day he had a mild stroke nearly 30 years ago. He used to smoke 1 pack a day -- never touched a stick since his stroke (he has been walking with a very slight limp since his stroke).

My dad too stopped smoking since 20+ years ago. He just came back one day and said wanna stop smoking, and since then never smoke again. I remembered still got 1-2 cartons left in the cupboard that he gave them away. At that time he smoked 2 packets a day. More than one carton a week.

He had a stroke 7-8 years back, and miraculously nothing serious damage to limps after 3 minor vent bursted. If he never quit smoking earlier on, could have killed him during that stroke.

Until today at 72 years old, he's stronger and healthier than me I think. smile_big.gif Eat more than me.

same here! Other pet hate, smokers who prefer to use the floor as an ashtray when there is a friggin' ashtray on the table!
