Hi good people!

An autoparts dealer told me that the 'Toyota Avanza Oil Filter [90915-YZZE1] (Thai Made)' is suitable to be used for the Suzuki Swift....can anybody confirm this? Or has anybody tried it before? He offered me RM18.00 for one piece...but I didn't buy it.

I hope anybody can clarify this, please!

Thanks!

Yes, very dead here! Thanks to our human nature's Lemming characteristic, the T&H brands (& P brand!) rules everywhere in Malaysia.
As for the filter, as long as the thread and seal are of the same type and size, it should fit. I use the Union brand which cost RM10/- and so far so good. I think Union is OEM for most filters in Malaysia, but don't quote me on that.
If you ask the shop to change the oil and filter but not buy from them, be careful, make sure you know them well. My friend always buy the filter & oil by himself and asked the car service shop to change for him. One day his cam shaft jammed. The shop guy said it's bcoz he use non-original stuffs. However when he sent to repair and mechanic found a size m8 nut inside that doesn't belongs there! So the question is where that nut came from? We will never know, only speculation who put it in there!

Yes. I'll post it this weekend when I go back, out station now. There are many types of filter that can fit the swift.

ya, lasting 999 is right as long as the filter fit the screw tread and the O-ring can stop any leaks - that's good! BUT you must make sure the oil flow is sufficient or else the engine may be suffocate without enough oil to lubricate the running moving parts. so must check this carefully!!! Like last time my Toyota cressida use original Volvo oil filter - much cheaper cos toyota oil filter cost 20 yrs ago RM60 and also always no stock, so forced me to look for an alternative replacement filter and finally found Volvo at only RM38, they are cheap cos they are using the same filter from V122 to V940!!! so happens I have a 940 at that time just try boleh pakai!!!

Sorry, Just got back from outstation work.
Toyota avanza filter will fit the thread but seal is a bit small compare to original Swift filter. I have use it once and found very slight leak, there is NO dripping but just a bit damp around the filter canister.

I've used the following without any problem but don't quote me on it, My Swift is CBU type with 1.3L engine.

Left to right:

1) Suzuki original parts = very expensive!!! this filter cost me RM40/-!
Part no.: 16510-61A31

2) Toyota original parts = This one is for Advanza, cost me RM24/- Tried b4, see comment on above post.
Part no.: 90915-YZZE2

3) Perodua Service part = This one is for Perodua, cost me RM10/-! have not try this, but i'll use this next oil change.
Part no.: 15601-00R01-000

4) This is Union (3rd party) = cost about RM10/- also and I use this at the moment. bcoz it is small, I change it at 3000KM interval.
Part no.: C-930
