Does yur 17" rubbing the fender wall.
I've been scouting around for Fortuner used rim 16" offset "0"
Hope to get it soon cause my tyre will last anoter few months and hope to get at reasonable price.
Or else I go for after market which wil be the last resort.

What a moron that dannyyap.

don't label people like that lah...... i read that thread and this one with great interest. two of the main challenges are when one switch a lower profile vehicles (sedan/saloon) to higher ones like 4WD and then from petrol to diesel. the vehicle characteristics are different but one does not change the expectations. in the case of dannyyap, his "pride" (jus a choice of word) was down the drain when another older 4wd run faster than his. having this said, am not suggesting his truck has got no problem but that's subjective in that given moment and since his truck already went to workshop for inspection, something must have been wrong.

scenario I
Lower vs higher profile vehicles - the center of gravity often ignored and if you think can korner-baring like sedan, then you ask for trouble. I was with my family up down from genting and 1 bloke with 2 passengers carry some "construction gears" overtook me - I was at about 45 km/h - like pro. I told my wife, this is not the owner of the truck and the staff is driving it. If he enjoys such manoeuvre, I have predicted him going to have trouble after few more turns on the road belting the hill. I decided to slow down to 20 km/h virtually let go my accelerator. after 4 cornering, his old hilux overturned.

scenario II
driving style between petrol vs diesel - drivers that often floored the accelerator have gross ignorance of how 4wd diesel behaves. not only smoke (often dark) came out but also chocking the engine. in layman term; petrol engine mixed fuel and air and compressed by piston before ignited by sparks however, diesel engine compressed air first then only fuel and as it heats up and the fuel ignates, and that is why diesel engine uses glow plug merely to help for start-up. so dannyyap is right by saying it is a waste of diesel fuel if you tekan kuat-kuat when excess unburned fuel being blown out of exhaust. so, driving style has to be mitigated and if one enjoys overtaking 3 vehicles in one row, now either stay back as 4th vehicle or when opportunity arises, only overtake one at the time. Similarly, when ascending that diesel engine won't optimally run like petrol but if insist, the vehicles behind will see smoke house. I often suggest to think like riding on bicycle if you want gain speed when ascending (sorry it sounds lame). The speed momentum need to be built up for diesel engine to burn optimally and in order to gain the horsepower needed. in the case of bicycle, change the gears before uphill to get an optimal climb otherwise all energy is wasted and is not transferring such efforts to the speed needed, and suddenly you felt the bicycle is heavy.

scenario III
don't judge the book by its cover - many 4wd on the road had little or massive mods. I have an ah pek stock look with canopy some more but often "challenged" by ada gaya 4wd but they can be surprised. My journey from karak towards kl is an example. sometimes, some 4wd drivers like to see another 4wd on the road for wrong reasons. the dmax is midly mod-ed from appearance and another hilux also mod-ed along with the self-proof of stickers of all sorts. compare stock to stock hilux (am talking 2.5 before anyone start the debate) cannot race with triton and seems dmax chasing high speed on the hilux then both have something to prove. the brave hilux led the dmax all the way. on one ascending road, I build up my speed and conveniently have the cruising speed to overtake the dmax that gave up the chase on hilux. as expected dmax's smoked his vehicle as I notice from my rear view mirror but can never smell mine and after about 4 kms, dmax disappeared from my rear view mirror. next expedition is the brave hilux driver and we meet on mrr2, from behind I saw his stuck in the lane with heavy traffic. slowly but surely I planned my forward lane and overtook him with just 50 km/h. morale of the story, why waste fuel when ultimately you are not necessary leading all the way and my trion (look stock) had remapped ECU and other mod in my hood, and the "Mamee" company tritons frequently commute kl-malacca-kl always gave up the chase on my "stock looking" one for mistakenly assume theirs run faster. please note am not suggestion any car-race and my mod is purely for my own driving pleasure and fun (with safety and legal speed limit in mind)

all new 4wd owners will enjoy the truck if they change their expectations expecially the first time diesel 4wd (not refering to any other diesel engine akin to rexton etc) and like some pointed out, it is their torque that impress others but that is used during off road and with the leaf spring to have the ability to carry 1 tonne, this is a truck lah.

lastly, the tyres on 4wd have lower speed rating limit!
