On weekend I usually wear shorts and T-shirt only. Whether to mall, supermarket etc., Went with wife to look for her SUV last time and that salesman (new) serve us very well. We even tested 3 models 5 times. Call them up to arrange the cars and when arrived, was ready to test, but then the Brand not popular so they have to work harder....
So you were the guy in Lat's cartoon. Park the Mercedes far away, walk to durain stall to buy, then after that drive Mercedes there to load them......kakakakakkaa

I was surprised that most of the sales people I spoke to didn't know much about their competitors cars and could only stick to one disparaging comment on each. Perhaps it was related to their levels of English but when I was trying to weigh up C Segment cars on their merits, the sales people didn't know enough about their competitors to be able to argue the case for their cars. I assumed that stuff would be part of their training.

That is quite true.
Everyone has their sales target including the boss.
A friend last time bought a new Accord, not the current one but the one before that. And he was really @@# off as the sales person did not say a word about the new Accord being in the showroom only a few weeks later! He would have waited if they told him.
But I guess the boss has instructed all his staff to get 'rid' of the old stock before the new ones come in. Imagine the guy whispering to my friend, don't buy yet, wait 2 weeks get new model. Then 2 weeks later boss see the same buyer coming in again buying the new accord, sure sales guy kena
