K5 already in Port Klang according to Paultan's website.
Infact JPJ begun test-drive already.
Hope the pricing is reasonable and not too greedy...
Hi hhhlow,
Just take the price difference between these models, you could roughly figure out the price of Optima.
Sportage 2.0 at RM139k similar to Tucson 2.0 high spec
Sorento 2.4 at RM158k similar to Santa Fe 2.4 high spec.
The Optima 2.0 should be comparable to Sonata 2.0 high spec too. I hope they have low spec Optima 2.0 with 16" rim, more likely won't since NAZA always distibute most of its AP to its luxury car line leaving less for Kia.
Biggest hope is that they have test drive unit and don't tell us to go test drive Sonata to roughly know how well it will be like. I find NAZA could hardly get test unit from Forte 2.0 batch onwards.

for comparison, Hyundai liken the Sonata to the Merc, while KIA align the K5 with the BMW! One is "luxury" sedan, the other is "driver's car"....all on a budget of course! Personally don't like the K5 interior, which is why I chose Sonata...
apparently in the US, BMW drivers are trading in their beemers for the K5 Turbo! If NAZA brought the GDI Turbo (274bhp) to Malaysia (fat chance).....sigh!

some reviewers have commented that Sonata designed for ladies and K5 designed for men!!

From what I read about it, the K5 is built on the Sonata platform, with a few body panel tweaks, more firm suspension and electric steering geared for more "feel", so they aiming at so called "driver's car". Also Schreyer (ex Audi), Kia's head of design, has tried to make the front wheel drive car look like a rear wheel drive with some odd body haunches at the C pillars, so shades of BMW here together with Kia's version of the Hoffmeister Kink! Personally, I find the exterior design disjointed, a bit like the outgoing 5 series from BMW, and I still hate the interior with it's curving and driver oriented dash and center console, but the fake front wheel arch vents outside seals it for me. Initially a good looking car but I think the attraction soon wears off. If NAZA bring the 2.0lGDI Turbo I will definitely think about it, but then again if SD bring a Sonata 2.0GDI Turbo I would rather go for that one!! With some suspension tweaks, body kit, ECU re-map, it will be a stonking car and much better looking than the K5. Or maybe I will pay Speedworks a visit and get a turbo bolted on to the current one?

if the steering feel of k5 is like those of forte 2.0 elec steering, then not good. I have driven the 2.0 forte and feel that the steering is dead. super light with 1 finger also can turn but feather light until no feedback to the driver.
yes, k5 and sonata share not only the same chassis, but same engine/gearbox. and with 18" rims standard and heavier body(looks heavy)... i think performance would be worst than sonata.
