I'm new to the forum. Trying to make up my mind between C200 and Passat CC. The Passat CC has a look to die for, but I'm worried about the resale value. The C200 is soo comfortable and you feel so cocooned inside. What do you say?

Is our car cluster using solar energy or using light sensor?
Coz the cluster is dim when sky is dark but it gets bright during sunny day.
Using solar energy.

You ask in a bunch of ppl who are drivng CC, I guess answer here will be CC lo

Most of my friends ride with my car agree that CC is a better choice.
VW resale value is not so bad la. 5 years warranty, what can be better?

hi Autofahrer,
I agree with the rest of the forumers that passat cc indeed a good car. The shape of the car is so sexy and awesome but if your concern is resale value, then definately Merc C class rules. Why???? I dont know but just to give you an example:
My dad bought Merc W124 (e class) 20 years ago and I sold if for RM30K!!!!! last year after he passed away. The car is not in great shape but still in running condition.
When it comes to Malaysia Mercedes still have the respect. Eventhough BMW is catching up fast but it seems only certain 'high level' group of people and youngster recognise it. These are my two cents on why merc still have good resale value:
i) good Built Quality
ii) popular luxury brand among all level of society in Malaysia (from estate workers, housewives, executives, muliti millionaires to royalty)
iii) considerably cheaper parts
iv) availability of used parts in abundance
v)availability of reputable service centres all over Malaysia (inc. Sabah & Sarawak)
vi) Mercedes have continoulsy had presence in Malaysia since 1930s.(Thanks to Cycle & Carriage)
vii)Avalability of new spare parts for old model (from to 1960s)
Anyway, I am currently considering C Class (facelift), Audi A4, Passat CC (facelift), BMW 3 series F30 (launched today). Will choose the following for different reason;
i) C Class - for good resale value / comfort / built to last
ii) Audi A4 - beautiful interior / perfomance car
iii) Passat CC - one-of-kind sexy car / design / class of its own
iv) BMW 3 series - For ultimate sporty driving experience / agility
Just my two cents, :-)

Kinda agree, but Mers is not that reliable, just it got most spare part.
A4 is not really a performance car unless you are talking about the 2.0T
CC is kinda sexy and also you can call it ugly... Especially the alien like tail light
3 series, perhaps the new F30 might have more oomph, the 320i, dull...
Haha, sorry I'm keep counting the bad. Coz I always ask whether I can live with the short coming before I make decision.
Then only I think about what I want to enjoy with the car.

Well, my 2 cents are as follows:
1) C-class - the facelifted one with 7 speed gearbox has been much improved, but it still isn't a performance car unless C250 or above...
2) PCC - well the price just went up by 30k and is now officially OVERpriced at RM270k, good car nonetheless (I am driving one), a real comfort cruiser with power whenever you want it.
3) Audi A4 - agree with Mikhai, only the 2.0T is good, but unfortunately those Euromobil smart-alecks prices it at RM310k.
4) 3 series - the new model F30 just launched, this car has been overwriting everything in its category since the last few models .... even the outgoing E90 has been class leading so far after 5 years....
so if you can wait for another 6 months or so ... might as well be this car, the one and only .... BMW 3 Series:

Step aside Beemers and Mercs , Veedub is coming

Argh... I got the OVER priced version... Haha.
But even at RM270k, I still think that it is a better choice.
Just take it as 30k for the extra 11hp, updated gear knob and center analog clock, haha.
So anyone got free service for the increase price?
