Could it be inadequate grounding? In my case I had ground wire added coollant sensor changed but still get the problem. Only disappear after I change the VFC. Maybe the loud roar of the engine caused by the old jammed VFC woke up the hantu!

Hmm... could be also... I install grounding around same time I replace coolant sensor...

Is your normal temperature nearer the half mark or the quarter at idle with aircon on? If nearer the quarter mark and engine roar when pickup then need new VFC

Idle with a/c ON.. big gap from half mark, and stays there. While driving, it increases to almost half mark. My suspects is that due to rapid increase in coolant temperature, the ECU shuts it down. This might be contributed by tight fan clutch which rotates 24 hours, even when speeding. Engine roaring like 747 hehe. 2 sen opinion.

Best is to join our Group Lunch on 25 June so that we can review your VFC condition during Open Bonnet session. Meanwhile, you can check at morning before starting your engine if the fan blade turning is tight. It should not turn too loosely or too tight. It should stop turning shortly after you sprint it hard.

Bro this is exactly how my Rexy behave before I change my VFC. Tight VFC makes the engine work very hard at high speed as the power requires to turn a fan increases by the cube of the increase in speed. I suspect this huge surge of power increase needed to turn the fan at high speed cause a surge in the engine temperature and the ECU to shut down aircon compressor. Change your VFC first as it needed replacing and then see if your coolant sensor needs changing too. My 1 sen

Once I changed my VFC to Merc S-Class Recond with 6 blades, the engine and acceleration felt lighter and quieter. In fact, during Cherating > Genting Sempah, there is a stretch of about 30 mins slow traffic on slide slope, temperature meter remain as per normal.

engine light on

especially during cool weather or low temperature in the morning, at night or when raining. when these happen the aircond will automatically off and the temperature gauge also not functioning.i share the problem with bro teerex and bro orex, it seems they also are having the same problem. bro teerex told me that it is the coolant sensor fault, he has replace it but the problem still exist. the only solution currently is to stop and switch off the car for a few second and the engine light will disappear, then reduce your aircond to minimal (18c) so that your inside car temperature lower than outside..funny but it works!!!

Hello guys,

Mine just happen yesterday while driving back from work at night. The next day i went to sc made scan 100. It showed coolant sensor defective. Changed the sensor(rm120) and thermostat (rm190). So far air cond working alright. Good luck guys.

yes bro, actually the thermostat alone should do.

I was not sure so i decided to change both. Furthermore when i removed the thermostat, it was rusty and black. Like kena burnt.

If I remember correctly in the older days the standard advice in UK Practical Mechanic magazine is to replace the thermostat yearly. So if still original then a good idea to change it. Do also check your VFC to see if too tight or not. If too tight unnecessary drag and noise when pickup and cruising.
