Mileage/odometer tampering for used cars is nothing new, in fact there are TOO MANY similar cases and mostly happen at used car dealers.

Allways add back 100,000 km to whatever the meter is showing... that is on average how much is faked..
is easy to do, just need a power drill at high speed... one day winding the odo gets nearly 100k km.. power drill carbon brush burns out at 200,000 km lol

BMW & Merc 's odo are hard to adjust and not many knows how to do it in an accurate way.

But I heard someone can tampered with it very accurately within minutes.

He charge RM400 per job and many 2nd hand car dealers knows this young chap. WHen he work, he'll ask you to stand far far else he won't do it. smile_big.gif
Ram me if you can!

it is advisable to look at disc brake wear & tear against its mileage. It is illogical if the disc looks badly deep or scratch but the mileage is still below 100k. Other things , you may look also drive shaft boot rubber condition by turning steering left or right . You will notice how is it new or badly dried rubber with cracks. These are the things that I look for when purchased my 2nd hand car in 2006 when its odo clocked at 55k km. Now the car is still running greats at 170k km. Before getting the genuine, I found most of the Odo is tampered with bad condition car & engine noise + vibration. I dont know how others looks for 2nd hand cars !

Well, the booties can be changed. Disc rotor? hard to say.
I have friends who change to aftermarket stuffs but keep the original ones, then when sell car take all aftermarket out, and fit back original ones, so all still new...... smile_tongue.gif
