I hate those people who say that electrical cars are green cars just because they dont use petrol. Do you ever stop and think who that energy is produced and who many coal plants have to work to satisfy our electrical needs ??

An electrical car will be green when the energy for that car will be produced by green metodes (wind , solar energy or other form of green energy) .

Today only people from Island (from what I know) can say that they are using all most green energy (geotermal energy).

So for all those people (celebreties in special), that are not living in Island biggrin.gif , stop saying your electrical car is eco frendly !!

Actually they are right in saying electrical car is eco friendly (versus gasoline powered car) simply because a battery powered electric car will convert kilowatt-hours from the power grid into mechanical energy at an efficiency of over 80% as compare with a gasoline powered car at 25%. And let's not forget that similar to hybrid cars, most electric cars also convert braking energy into electrical enegy as well.

Don't take my word for it so read more about it here:

http://www.ecoworld....t-per-mile.html

http://www.slate.com/id/2179609

But no matter how good an electrical car is, the best way to be eco friendly is still to drive less car and use more public transport smile_approve.gif

If your car energy is produced by a coal plant then for a electrical car to run 64 km (40 miles) it needs 11,5 KW = 5 kg of coal. I don't see this like a green car.

Seriously, have you read any of the articles in the link. smile_angry.gif
If not here I summarised it for you.

For the same distance travel of 15,000 miles, the amount of carbon monoxide produced by each tyre of car are:

Gasoline engine car: 11,850 pounds
Hybrid cars: 7,110 pounds
All-electric car: 5,746 pounds

Hopefully I do not have to explain to you which of the 3 types of car is more environment friendly.

I don't own one also not planning to own one until true eco in place... Maybe back to basic may safe our earth...

Don't worry. Every part of the battery, from the precious metals to the plastic, plates, steel case and the wiring, is recycled.
In Malaysia, Honda and Toyota will take back your battery and help you to recycle them in an environmental friendly manner.

To me, bicycle with battery-powered is not an environment friendly thing.
Why not just use the pedal power which is zero carbon and at the same time improve your health?

For those who is really environment consious, the best way to help our planet earth is....take the public transport smile_approve.gif

Do you think taking public transport help to improve environment? I am certainly not sure. Many busses on the road with black smoke coming out from their exhaust and you call this saving earth or slowly killing....

Firstly, public transport does not limit to bus.
Secondly, whether you take a public transport or not, they are still running on the road.
If you do not like public transport , then you can do it the old fasion way: walk or cycle.
For sure one less cars on the road will help to reduce the amount of green house generated.
