I just want to share my experience about C5 and EW10J engine.
There was a big gap between cam belt cover and crankshaft pulley.
Anything can easily go between the gap and straight into the cam belt.
This incident happend to my C5. The alternator/air cond belt was cracked with few strands went inside the cam belt (through the gap) and causing the cam belt jumped out few teeth. All valves was bent and u know lah what happen next.
Pokai lah this.

hi lingo, sorry to hear that. so, has the problem solved?

hello all French Gurus here,
hope i can get some advice here.

i have seriously thinking of getting a 2nd hand car, either 406 or C5. my aim is just to get a comfortable car for long distance driving. i'm currently driving a Renault Kangoo. i'm happy with it but hauling the big car with small cc engine for long driving is making me tired.

i have read topics on 406 and C5 in this forum, Peugeot club malaysia, motortrader and Citroen Club but seems like nobody has discussed about this 2 specific model extensively.

so, to those who are familiar with both 406 and C5, could you advice on the below subjects?

1. which one is more comfortable (NVH, comfort level)
2. ease of owning (less trouble, easy to find parts, easy fix, cheaper)

spending more time reading the forum seems to make my mind thinks that 405 is more comfortable and 406 (especialy from this guy Zulfa), and Xantia is much better than C5. sigh... am i right or wrong?

anyway, 2000-2002 pricing for both models are really tempting.

thanks guys

hi guys, after about a year started this thread, as of today (7:07pm), i finally bought myself a '95 Xantia. haven't got time exploring her yet. it's an old car, but i'm very excited. will continue reading all the post on xantia. by the way, i have a few question here.

1. does anyone has the car manual? ( i don't even know how to change the tire yet). can i somehow borrow and make a copy of it, or is anyone selling one?

2. does anyone has the Haynes manual? i looked at MPH online but they don't have stock right now.

hope to join you guys here.

human :
thanks but i think it's ok. i stayed up late last night searching the net (while occasionally moved up, peeking the green Xantia thru my window slits smile.gif), and managed to get and downloaded the Haynes manual (Citroen Xantia service and repair) . is yours similar to the one i just obtained? (as attached)

nuggyn :
i did test out the 406. brilliant machine. one of the most handsome saloon available for mass market. beautiful inside out. in fact 406 was my dream machine ever since my boss got it new in 1998 (that was the first time i saw it. i was riding bike to work at that time). BUT the comfort of xantia really made me having sleepless night. i tested the 406. then Xantia. then 406 again. then Xantia again. and at the end, there's green old xantia at my porch. it may not look very handsome, nor having sophisticated interior, but the ride is special. and that's enough for me. i'm willing to face the consequences smile.gif

That bad?! Having not enough sleep is bad for health. Better get rid of your Xantia.

Of course. It is like trying to find a janda that's been used for 10,15 years still tight and not sagging. If you know what I mean.
