Dear Ford Sifus,

Need your recommendation / help for my FIL Ford Laser 1.6. If I'm not mistaken, its the 1999/2000 model.

His problem is that the idling is not stable and keeps on dying, especially at traffic light / traffic jam and when the car is started.

He has consulted quite a number of mechanics, all telling him different things and none being 100% sure what exactly is the problem. There was this workshop at Kuchai Lama (Megah Auto) that suggested that the ECU was faulty and need to be changed but cannot guarantee that a new ECU will solve the problem. According to them, second hand ECU for 1.6 is dificult to find, 1.8 is easier but is not suitable.

He has send to Ford, who spend like half a day and could not even dignose the exact source. Told him to leave the car day for at least 4-days for them to try to figure out what is the problem and the checking alone would cost more than RM1.5K

Told my FIL its not possible for Ford to charge RM1.5K just to find the source of the problem? Could it be true, Ford charges so much just to check?

Any good Ford workshops, prefer around Taman Desa / Kuchai Lama area?

Many tks
