Recommend Good But Cheap Clay Bar, Car Polish & Wax

Going to clean the car and bring some mirror-shine to the metallic paint that has got a little dull for the past 1 year. Have not done any serious polish and wax for 2 years now apart from cleaning with water(I know I'm little pathetic).

Any recommendations on good but cheap clay bar, car polish and wax products that can be easily bought off the shelves in Tesco supermarket?

Wax - brand, approx. price

ps. just watched a tutorial video on car detailing. It's so much easier to understand how to detail the car from watching the videos below rather than reading advice from fellow members here on the forum. I hope the method used in the video is correct.

Clay Bar - Try PG Clay Bar
Polish/Wax - Don't know what extent of your paint work, most supermarket stuff are mostly AIO, all in one, so you can try PG sealant, seems some member are using and are quite happy with them...

agreed with uncle vr..RRP is Rm29.90 but something u can discount upto 30%



PG - Wonder Clay No.1 -Foundation to brilliant and durable shine for silky smooth finish.

-Recommended for black and dark coloured cars.

I used both No.2 and No.3 and personally i like No. 3 more as cleaning power is stronger (even it named for dull paint ) but i found it pickup dirt faster...

PG - Wonder Clay No.2


Been using this for quite sometimes. I bought one 2 years back, cut into 3 portions, now still using the 2nd portion. Dem lasting. Good remover of dirt.

gr88, I am curious about the PG Wonder Clay No. 3 which was described as "Recommended for dull and badly weathered cars". The metallic paint on my car is a light to medium tone grey, and I believe No. 2 will be suitable. However, I wonder what is the difference between No. 2 and No. 3. The clay bar is supposed to pick up dirt. Is No. 3 supposed to pick up more dirt with its stronger cleaning power? How does this affect the surface preparation before receiving the polish and wax? In other words, in what ways will the different clay affect the appearance of the car? Will the car look shinier and mirror-like if using the No. 3? Sorry for these questions as I am quite raw in this.

As a general rule, I would use from the most mild and if that doesn't work, work my way up to increasingly more aggressive. But the sifus would give you a better explanation.

Hi ryder, cbsteh is right, regardless of polisher or clay...always start with the mildest product.

As i mentioned, for me i PERSONALLY prefer No. 3 as my old junk is white and nowadays i only wash it once or twice a months (getting lazy ) so the contamination is higher (as i travel alot)...so instead of using No.2 , i choose to use No.3 (where i believe regardless how aggressive the clay is, it can't harm the paintwork much...

If you want me to word in in layman term, all i can tell is when i use No.3 on the paintwork, i felt 'more' rough compare to No. 2

e.g No. 3 = 2000 grit sandpaper , No. 2 = 1500 grit sandpaper (this is just a illustration not the 'real' rough of the clay...

Normally after i clay, i will polish or wash..so whatever find swirl u referring to to me its nothing

Just finished cleaning my car today. However, I skipped the clay bar process as Tesco didn't have the PG Wonder Clay. I just washed the car with a car shampoo and went straight to Soft99 Wax. The car looked a little shinier with a bit of mirror-like finish after applying the Soft99 Wax. Now my car looked better.

My next car wash would probably be 5-6 months from now, and I'll have plenty of time to look for this PG Wonder Clay No. 2.

PG Wash & Shine with Carnuba Added - 2 litre for about RM18. It bring shine to your car without waxing because its wax content in the shampoo is quite high.
