Bro,
Both is working in the diffrence principle, can the mercs type also use in our rexton, will it b any harm 2 the cooling system.

Hi Bro,
there will not be any problem as long as they are in working condition. both function mechanically with its pro and cons.

bro both Rexy and Merc same type. Believe bro r3xt0n photos are of my old Rexy's coupling and the last photo is of an unknown car, not Merc. The Merc type I fit is the same as the Rexy but by Behr. I have been using Merc without any problem. Now also with Merc fan blade

Hi Bro,
Correct that is the clutch fan you gave for r/d. the other fan is from land rover efi, which uses the controlled flow principle.

I remember there is another bro from PG has been earthing for Rex II too. Your current Rexton also in tip top condition. How's the drive after replacing one injector?

From our March TT, we have 2 Rexton II joined us. White Rex surely looks outstanding among the norm of Black and Silver.

Saw this new ads at Mudah from Sabah, Rexton I basic model is selling that high in Sabah but their road tax is real dirt cheap.

Rexton RX270XDI White Year 2006 - RM79,990

bro you know how mine behave after the test drive this afternoon. Turbo lag is still there. But you agree no engine roar compared to yours. Trying to convince you to change your fan viscous coupling hehehe

Hi Bro,

Can you shoot a photo of the normal engine temp..? just wanted to study on the temp compare to our.

And your Lagging problem is very much related to your Battery Power, Vacuum Hose, Vaccuum Modulator or the carbon build up on AGR and Turbo Waste Gate.

We have customize a special vacuum hose for turbo waste gate actuator, EGR and Main Vacuum supply to Mudulator, better the performance, and better responding.

Pls refer to bro r3xton, teerex, orex or firex.

Thanks

thanks bro for your advice. Will get it done one by one. The turbo lag is not always there. Only sometimes.
Don't know how to download photo. But Bro r3xt0n just change his fan coupling and fan blade to one from a Merc. He sure will share his improved enjoyment of his ride. Wait for his story. Neutral 2nd opinion ma

Check your cooling fan viscous coupling when your engine is cold. Is it turning freely?
If it feels tight does your engine make a loud wind noise when accelerating and the engine sounds strained?
Do your check engine light sometimes comes on and the water temperature gauge drops to the bottom. Then the aircon begins to feel warm.
When check with a fault reader it says coolant sensor failure. The water temperature gauge is at 1/4 when idling with aircon on. It shoots up almost immediately on rapid acceleration.
After I change the viscous coupling all became normal and the engine sounds so sweet when accelerating rapidly. Much better pickup and better diesel consumption. Wasted my money changing the coolant temperature sensor which was not faulty. Heard from the mechanic who agree with my views regarding the coupling and change it for me that another Rexton had the coolant sensor changed By him but the above symptoms remain. He did not check the viscous coupling then. Never occur to him to check that. My earlier mechanic says the coupling is good as it must feel a little tight when turned manually. He disagreed with me that it is faulty. In fact the new one is very free spinning.
Please note that the coupling for some Mercedes are same as that of the Rexton 270. May be cheaper than original. I fix one from a Mer.
Check your cooling fan viscous today. Can improve your fuel economy and your enjoyment of Rexton or any vehicle with viscous coupling.

Bro r3xt0n please give us your first impression report on your new fan coupling and fan blade which you just fix to your ride. Later a more detailed report after longer use also and some photos

Let me share the photos taken first

1. The Merc Recond set (Coupling Fan Clutch & Fan Blade)

2. Closer view

3. Showing the Part Number

4. Original Ssangyong Rexton

5. Closer view to show the Part Number, Maker and Year of Manufacturing. I think the rest are serial number for traceability.

6. Ssangyong Original Fan Blade

7. Showing the nut that is tightly tighten and require a special tool for opening.

Before
My original fan is functioning normally but slight tight when on idle. On acceleration from idle, the roar sound is obvious and could be heard from cabin. Did feel a bit heavy at initial acceleration before turbo kick in.

After
Tested the fan is on free running that could be stopped by hand (not mine, the shop boss hand of course). On acceleration, instant difference could be immediately felt. The acceleration is so much quiet, surprisingly much lighter and improved acceleration power. I believe this will surely helps to improve on fuel consumption too.

Conclusion
The drive is now much more enjoyable and relaxing, even after all the servicing and improvement that was done. This is surely a worthy improvement that cost less than RM250. We should include this as part of the improvement items just like changing Vacuum Hose, Cleaning Exhaust Catalyst, Servicing Vacuum Modulator & EGR Valves.

Well done Bro Rex4585 for sharing such a valuable improvement and putting the effort to prove it really works. He really deserve a warm big clap from everyone here. smile_thumbup.gif

Will monitor further and report back my findings, especially during jammed traffic. Stay tuned.

The roar and more peaceful drive is expected but it also improved the acceleration at the same time. It make the drive so much more lighter and enjoying.

Water temp did not change but this is only test from normal city drive, not traffic jam condition or hill climbing condition. I think it should work with the Ori 9 blades Ssangyong Fan blade. Better let Bro Rex4585 confirm on this, I think he tested.
