ha ha ha ha... other alternative -switch off engine at traffic light can really save ka???? maybe 0.2l/100km??

manual okay can free gear to cruise to junction/traffic light.. but on some auto gear advisable don't. even in jams no need to free, can used brake, the heat generate will be cool by the cooling system, but dissengage and engaging the auto gear D ,N,D,D,N,D,D,N,D will accelerate the wear and tear.

oh oh..what happen to VW DSG if hold too long? most traffic light have timer now, if more than 60 sec I put N first la jugak..hihihi, less than that just use brake.

Right, if in traffic light, better to put N while waiting because when in D gear, it still has slight fuel pumped and the engine tends to vibrate more which will affect the engine mounting in long run. While the P gear use should be minimise except for longer period parking or parking at slope because it is wearing transmission the most. When in P gear, always engage Hand brake in full to avoid all weight entirely dependent on the P gear locking.

Yup, if for short period then better let it idle, because starting also need more fuel to crank.
Same for changing between D & N. If short period leave in D, unless stop for longer period. Switching between them also wears the linkages...... smile_wink.gif

Get car with grade logic auto so car will automatically change gears when necessary. Step on brakes and gear will downshift.
