Is it true that when engine breaking, the consumtion is 0 ?
I have a friend that has that theory. I dont have a computer, si I cant check.
nope....in fact...too much engine braking would result higher fuel consumption..
as example during race car braking for a corner....the driver use engine braking+proper brake (note that the rev still at the very edge of rpm limit).....thus the ecu still inject a lot of fuel to compensate and to avoid engine stalling/running too lean when compared to clutch pressed with throttle closed (in theory that would be engine idling on that moment)...

I have to disagree, as you are on deceleration, no large amount of fuel is injected except to keep engine alive.
In racing, engine is kept at optimum torque range for acceleration after the corner. I think you know better.....

i think i can TRY to do a test..
we have a fuel consumption meter..
Can test this when doing down hill... i'll reset the meter... and look at the reading..

hahaha okok... will need to do few times to get the exact readings...
tonite need to travel to penang... sure will pass by the slope at the IPOH there...

hehe..yes...but maybe my long sentences a bit confusing....
i mean there was definately more fuel compared to idling during deceleration (like slowing down for traffic light/junction etc etc) where we required to fully stop...
test test test....
