There are many phish paypal account that hackers/phishers could access illegitimately. Whatever amount transferred to your paypal account could be reverted when the real owner dispute it. Value transferred within paypal acconts should not be considered as cash transacted until the fund are withdrawed from your bank account and you have cash it out. There are known cases where Paypal manage to charge the refund to the bank account and withdraw it. Then you will lose the car and fund.

When it sounds too good to be true, it is never true. Why would a foreigner buy a car and ship to him when cars in his own country could be several times lower? These kind of scams are more common for electronic items, phones, laptop, etc.. where the owners are mostly youngsters who are naive, less caution and the amount is less concerning.

Thanks for the info. Actually, i never think that, I'll lost my car! Understood that, money transferred through paypal can be revert. What I concern is, they will steal credit card info through the paypal, if I remember well, paypal need to provide credit card information for verification purposes. Or, access my paypal account to carry out other "transaction". Yes, you're right, common scams for small items like what you have mention, but just feel weird, why car ad! and this is not common at all, another reason i post here is to keep other people aware of this. however, western union is a good option.

u just insist say u dont have paypal, ask them use western union....

i play a game and win USD250 before, they use western union to transfer $$$ to me even though i have paypal account. Last time cant withdraw from paypal in malaysia, nearest paypal hub is singapore...

Western Union is also another common payment method by scammers.

If you saw jobs ads like follows, be aware that it is a scam.

i. seeking to collect payment from Western Union, consolidate and remit to another location. Chances are you are tricked to be part of scam operation. The victims are tricked to send money to the scammers via Western Union to you for you to consolidate and remit to the scammer.

ii. reshipping products to another location. The Scammer could have ordered the product with fraudulent payment method and ship to your address to consolidate and reship to the scammer.

Rule of thumb : If it sounds to be too true, it's scam.

Payment via Paypal can be reverted especially if the owner claimed that his account has been compromised or he did a credit card chargeback thru his bank. Scammer won't be able to gain your credit card info or use your paypal account for other transactions unless he managed to hack into your account.

If you are concern with your online security, you should adopt the following safe practice

i. Use updated Antivirus & Firewall. (Recommend Kaspersky Internet Security)
ii. Use unique secure password that is different from your email account and change password periodically.
iii. Never store your password online or your pc.
iv. Never install unknown and unsigned freewares or shareware.
v. Never response or click on email links, especially if it looks suspicious or from your payment provider.

There are plenty more but I guess that's the most common to caution on.

The one who posted or responded with the scam ads are usually cheaply paid posters who will just post blindly without checking the origin of the site.

Most scam prey on the common human nature, greedy and careless. This is pretty much like those Nigeria scam mails. If one is caution and not too greedy, there is no way for these kind of scams to work. Most of these scammers are targeting mass with the same scam trick, because it is easier to replicate the same trick to scam again rather than creating new trick everytime. Unlike those professional scammers that involved details planning and multiple casts just like those movies.

You can easily play along with them. Make them merry go around to occupy them as much as possible. This kind of scam mostly use mass mailing and if 0.1% of the recipient take them to tasks, they would be too busy to scam anyone else.

Check these funny prank out.. good way to pass time when you have free time and nothing better to do. Plenty of such prank ideas on youtube.
