My 2005 Swift engine oil has been leaking ever since I noticed oil drops on my porch floor last week. I took the car to Suzuki service center in Jalan 222 this morning to have it looked by the technician. When we opened the hood, we could see traces of oil spots along the head of the engine block but there is no oil flowing out from the engine top cover. He said that the head gasket needed to be changed. Then we jacked the car up and saw that the oil sump underneath the car was covered with oil. He cleaned the sump to determine the source of the leak but couldn't find any. He said probably the leak was very small and cannot be noticed in a short time. So he advised me to use the car and monitor for signs of oil leak at the bottom of the car. Thinking it was a fair analysis, I took his advice.

I then asked him about the replacement head gasket, the technician said Suzuki Malaysia doesn't keep spare parts; all spare parts are imported from Japan as and when required. But get this: the time for spare parts to reach KL is around 3 weeks. This means, if we have a problem with our Suzuki cars and we need to replace any parts, it would at least take 3 weeks to get the parts over. I asked him why is it like this? He said Suzuki cars are rather new here and they don't expect any major problems with the car and so they only stock up minor consumables like oil filter, air-con filter, engine oil, brake pads. The rest like absorbers, interior parts, gaskets, they will have to import it from Japan as and when needed. I told him Suzuki has got to start to cater for Swifts and Grand Vitaras that were first imported in 2005 as these cars will require changing of major parts already due to wear and tear.

Hope you guys are made aware of this. Anybody knows where I can get the replacement head gasket fast?

Oh my. I encounter the same problem last year. My SX4 crossover had accident, the left side mirror was broken. I went to suzuki dealer and they informed me the same. they have to order it from Japan! but luckily, the singapore dealer had the stock for it. And yes i agree, workshop here is still not familiar with suzuki car, which make me sometimes regret buying the car at the first place :-(

And today, i send my car for regular 10k service. and i notice that the price for the spare parts are different from one workshop to another. when i contacted suzuki, they are not helpful at all. I thought the parts & accessories should be standard price. Hmm...should i sell this car and get local car instead???

Lack of spares at SM is getting ridicules. Situation is getting so crazy that parts are being stolen from cars on the road. Indicator lights on my Swift got stolen. This was at Penang GH after my night shift! Ofcourse SM has to order spares from Japan, and I`ve to wait 3 months. I`m afraid more body parts are going to be stolen!!! Have started to take taxis on night shifts. I`m seriously thinking of selling my car and getting a used Proton.

SM, blame yourself. You will loose potential customers due to this spares stock policy!

Its really sad to hear all the bad experience.. but for me, I just wanna share that I didn't face this problem for my SX4 Sedan as i just replace my front wind screen at suzuki services cebter bandar tun Razak. I just walk in without booking and they have stock. change and get my car within 6 hours. On Sept last year, i meet with an accident, my car bonnet, front bumper and skirting, radiator changed. I get my car within 14 days. The service advisor told me they keep some stock here especially Swift since its CKD now. And the service that provide is very professional.

Suzuki cars are going down the drain due to negative image thanks to Suzuki Malaysia.

And they're gonna launch their bloody overpriced RM150k Kizashi. And they expect people will buy when you cant even willing to stock up spares since it requires heavy investment.

Who wants my swift on the cheap? The exhaust o2 sensor is broken and it cost bloody RM800++!
Often wrong, never in doubt...
