Basically we normally class around 6 levels. Entry, HP, Comfort Performance, UHP, Max and Extreme.
Sometimes HP will have mix match with comfort performance depending on the brands.

Entry level - Normal day to day use, Most OE tyres for production cars
HP/Comfort performance - Comfort and/or with quiet ride
UHP - These are higher performing, better grip in wet and dry
Max - These are evn higher performing than UHP with even better wet and dry grip
Extreme - Outright dry performing tyres like semi slick, road legal race/track tyres, but these are not so good in the wet

Having said that, tyre technology have improved leaps and bound, therefore you will find some qualities not found as explained above in some of the newer tyres. For example PS3 is Max performance, but now built softer for comfort.

Example of tyres:
Entry - Michelin XM1, GY Ducaro, Dunlop J3, Yoko A-Drive(AA-01), Falken ZE322, BS AR-10, Conti CC1
HP/CP - Michelin PLC, GY NCT5, Dunlop D-01, Yoko DNA, Falken ZE-912, BS GR-90, Conti CPC2
UHP - Michelin PP2, GY Rev Spec, Yoko S-Drive, Falken FK452, BS RE-001, Conti CSC1
Max - Michelin PS3, GY F1 Asy., Yoko Advan V103, BS RE-050, Conti CSC3
Extreme - Michelin Pilot Sports, GY RS Sports, Yoko A048, Dunlop Star Spec, Falken RT-615, BS RE-11, Conti Extreme

Hope you can digest the above...... smile_tongue.gif

skip CC1 no matter what...

BTW the tires is wearing outside more than inside??? or it happens on your rear wheels (wears inside more than outside)???
if like that try to get directional tires and Kumho ESPT (165/55 R14) is the one for you...
actually not only you has this problem, these happens to all cars with fixed rear axle...

Duraplus is asymmetric and Ducaro is symmetric.....

Whatever tyres you use, first get your priority correct. Normally comfort and quiet tyres are non performing and performance tyres are normal without comfort. Budget also plays a part.
Having said that, PP2 are performance. Good in dry and wet, but ride is hard and noisy. RE-030 should be about the same.
ZE-912 is something in between, should be same as V8RS
Yoko A Drive are entry level.
Kumho SPT (KU31) should be okay for you. Now Made in Vietnam and is cheaper. Could be slightly noisy.

yes CC1 and RE030 is over priced... if Kumho is performance 90% of RE030 i'm happy to get Kumho coz u can see the RE030 price is about 170% of ESPT...

well both directional... but ESPT thread is finer compare to V8rs but comfort wise hard to say... bro 165/55 R15 the tire profile is like so thin on those Kenari, Kelisa and lastly now Viva... so quite hard u can get really comfort... I dare to say CC1 is not that comfort too after sometime... i felt my newly change Hankook V12 absorb small humps better than CC1 (previous set)...

buying tires sometime is a gamble just like in life but by frens in forum we can minimize it down...i would like to say go for V8rs... noise is very subjective as of comfort too... different ppl got different limit...
