hi Tourist, i used to drive an Unser. upgraded to Innova for better power and FC. u see plenty of Innovas on the road and not Serena because the formar is cheaper by at least $30k, just as big with same engine capacity. of course Serena is better appointed with better features to be more comfortable (better seat perhaps and a more pliable suspension)and quieter (maybe better insulation for reduce HVN rating). for me, it's simply the better value for money in the Innova. i believe innova also better resale value than Serena. Innova has less electronics for engine management too. and proven workhorse for 5 eyars already. cant go wrong with either car. money decides. good luck! btw i got the manual innova. auto slightly underpowered due to gearing ratio and of course the low torque figure of 182Nm doesnt help for a huge body it has to lug to overcome inertia.

Innova is a fantastic car. Its capable of going up Genting Highlands with full load of 6 people, 5 luggages, 1 child.

Only prob lem is high FC, about 8.2litre/100km.

Otherwise, the car will serve well.

Hi..

My opinion.. here goes..

Innova is the cheapest medium to big size mpv available at the moment.

Exora.. quite big but the resale value and the small 1.6 engine turns me down.

Serena.. big, spacious, comfortable but.. a way off my budget at 140k smile_blackeye.gif

livina... is as good as a station wagon. relevant now as my kids are still small but in 5 years down the line they'll be screaming for space and I can't afford to change MPVs every 5 years.

Naza.. hmmm.. horror stories on the engine and fuel consumption although it's comfortable and luxurious... resale value also is a concern.

Continental models... not for me.. i'm scared of the maintenance cost.

What else.... Wish?... good resale value but too expensive for a recond model 03-05 model is still at 100K.. gila..and people take 9 years loan somemore and no aircond at the rear. The 3rd row passenger will sweat. Not suitable for malaysian weather.. it's made for Japan remember where you don't need acond that much. Here people use acond ALL the time.. even at night. Not that spacious too.. suitable for small families with lots of money. smile_approve.gif

I haven't booked my Innova yet until I confirm of the facelift model due mid this year...so I heard... or may be UMW is coming out with a replacement model..

Bro... ALLDISC any intelligence info?

why suddenly my name came up? he he...

i heard no new innova at the soonest. not 2011. earliest is sometime in 2012. toyota asia will overhaul the IMV range with new hilux, fortuner and innova altogether.

but it is safe to buy the innova, since its technology is quite decent, not the latest but sound enough. it wasnt design for japan market unlike wish, ipsum, estima and the likes so expect less.

but since innova is not that pretty also, i dont think its replacement will look fabulous. plus that high reliability and it is still worth the buy.

My family has an Unser 1.8AT and I drove Innova 2.0AT before...I can say Innova is much smoother and more powerful. Driving the Unser at 140kmh is a bit struggling to the engine already but it is still fine with Innova. Innova has better seats for the front but I feel that the rear seats design for Unser is more comfortable. Innova is so much more quieter but the maintenance for Unser is really super cheap. The Unser has clocked >300,000km and it's already 9 years but still not much major things need to maintain.

I keep hearing that Unser fueld consumption is high, I just wondering what's the FC on city and highway drive?

Unser at 100kph = 4,000rpm

Innova at 100kph = 2,600rpm (more or less)

the difference is made by several factors like

1. engine capacity from 1,800cc to 2,000cc

2. SOHC 8 valve to DOHC 16 valve

3. Variable Valve Timing System or VVTI

but even though Unser has higher FC the biggest advantage comes when we need to carry say err, 8 people at one go.

Unser can do that and even FC is higher but we only need one car to do so. without such vehicle, one will need 2 cars to ferry 8 person. 2 cars mean we spent more to buy the cars, 2 petrol tank, 2 drivers, 2 insurance policies, 2 toll tickets and less merrier trip. not to forget more wear and tear items 8 pc of tyres, brakes, absorbers, service costs.

ALLDISC.. thanks for the info. Looks like I can proceed with the booking. I got the info on the facelift and new model from a salesman at Subang Jaya branch. He can't confirm any dates too.

I can't afford to wait any longer. The 3rd child is coming out soon and even with 2 at the moment I have problem with space. My younger son sleeps on the floor of my Waja while the elder one sleeps on the seat..horizontally. Kesian lah. Later with the 3rd one.. kena ada baby seat somemore.. mana mau duduk?.. Maid olso coming soon.. aduhhhh.. headache.

The only money-worth buying (for me) is INNOVA... smile_thumbup.gif

Innova is not THAT ugly... smile_approve.gif

consider also citra rondo and saving of 20K. downside, it is a 7 seater where else innova is genuine 8 seater.

rondo is city car, suitable for highway but must avoid small flood and serious kampung side off-road.

innova can beat that, plus it has second row a/c blower. the 20K difference is somehow worth it.

twin airbags, ABS, 4 speed AT, variable valve timing with timing chain, they both have it. rondo is FWD, innova is rear.
