Welcome Bro Orex to join us here at Rexton Hub, will add you to the Rextonian List.

Please feel to free to share your experience, tips, info, questions and laughters here. We arranged our first TT on 24th Sept (Fri) at R&R Awan Besar, do join if available. Check out the details from my signature.

It is slightly quiet now as most are still traveling around with their Rexton.

Something interesting to share. Saw this Rexton RX230 on my trip to Cameron Highland. I guess you will notice that it's body height is much lower and if you look closer, the wheel is actually changed to smaller one that seems like a 15" wheel. Did not get to speak to the owner as he is busy with his family and I am busy with mine, just snap a quick photo.

I think it helps to improve body roll and handling as well. What do you think? Do share your opinion..

Hi guys,

just come back from balik kampung, saw 3 Rexton in KB, traffic jam everywhere so has to top-up diesel in pasir mas, after 10 minute check engine illuminate and won't go off, next day went to Napi Motor near KB Mall ( ceh!!drive in limp mode max 80km/h only), replace the diesel filter rm295, delete all the error in ECU and service the EGR Valve for rm 50 only. Now my Trex run much better.

1) try to avoid unfamiliar gas station - water content might be high..huhuhuhu

but now I know how to service the EGR..hihihihi

2) humming sound from the front right whenever high speed left cornering- might be the hub bearing, tomorrow must sent my trex to clinic.

3) very heavy rain in kelantan, there is water in the right headlight ( anybody know how to remove it??)

4) went to rantau panjang petronas, found Petronas Urania CJ-4 engine oil , better than CI-4, only RM80 per 5 liter bottle, bought all 4 bottle.( petronas want to test market, try go to any other petronas maybe they still have it)

cheers

This is similar to what I experienced last month too. Pumped diesel from an isolated Petronas and immediately lost of power with check engine indicator ON shortly after. Went to safety mode with speed cut to 80kmh and reduced to 60kmh on slight incline. The next day, brought to Service Center to diagnose the error code related to EGR Valve, so serviced it for RM150 before deciding to replace the Vacuum Modulator. Monitored for 1 week, power recovered about 80% on the first few days but check engine indicator ON and went to safety mode again after a week. Diagnosed for the same error code, so decide to replace both Vacuum Modulator at RM580X2. Now after few weeks monitoring, everything running perfectly.

Like Bro Nik mentioned, few important things to note

1. Always remember to service the EGR Valve along with your servicing as this is not included as part of the routine.

2. When in safety mode, don't panic and over-pushing the engine.. it is meant to protect your engine when there is error detected. If you push it further, the damages is going to get worse. You may still drive a distance but try to check the error soonest possible.

3. Try to avoid isolated station, the water content maybe high that make the situation worse.

Does it sounds like wind sound coming in? Mine has it on the front right too but not sure if it's wind sound or bearing.

hehehe.. I am no idea too, only know got to remove the bulb from behind mudguard at front wheel.

I researched online on CJ-4 Vs CI-4 where CJ-4 perform best for high performance engine after 2007 with for on-highway use especially those comes with particulate filters but it has lesser TBN content.

Important facts about the new CJ4 Diesel oil:

1) Must be the only oil used in MY 2008+ motors (6.4L PSD) due to particulate filters now being used. Use of non CJ4 oil will clog these filters, as will using 500ppm diesel fuel and not ULSD 15ppm fuel.

2) Is backwards compatible for 2007 and earlier (6.0L and 7.3L). These motors can use any diesel fuel and either CI4+ or CJ4 oil since these older motor do not have exhaust particulate filters.

3) Extended oil drains with CJ4 are not advised due to lower TBN count.

4) Try to use CJ4 oil with ONLY ULSD fuel 15ppm. Use of 500ppm diesel will shorten oil life/usage due to lower TBN count.

5) CJ4 is a big step forward in better soot control, reduced wear, less filter plugging, reduced foaming and other critical beneficial aspects.

Just to share the driving experience from Simpang Pulai to Cameron Highlands with Rextonians here.

Driving up with 5 adults 3 kids in Rexton is a breeze and comfort. Running about 60~80kmh at D4 and D3 at 2,000~2,500 RPM without any lack of power. Taking curve and corner with confidence and firmly too. Overtaking sedans without effort. Too bad did not encountered other SUV on the journey for comparison. Distance from Simpang Pulai to Cameron Equatorial is about 80km which consumed about RM15 diesel.

At the exit of Organic Farm at Brinchang, the road is at least incline of at least 45° and decline of 60° where got the chance to test the 4WH. Climbing up is powerful and on going down the slope, can feel the effort of the Hill Descent Control which make the car more stable and need lesser braking power. We should organised a trip here, can be quite an experience here.

On the journey back at night in the dark curving and sloping road is quite challenging for a high and heavily loaded SUV. The force going down is pretty strong, going 80kmh at times. ESP (electronic stability programme) with ARP (active rollover protection) comes handy to help to take sharp corners at sloop with more confidence and stability. But don't be over-confidence, there are several spots in the midway is quite dangerous with tow truck standby waiting to pick up victims. I met a corner that was so sharp that went oversteer to opposite lane but luckily no oncoming vehicle, otherwise it can turn really nasty.

I am still traveling with my family till this weekend, will report more when back.

Hi Guys,
Just back from Koh Samui from long holiday,
travel to bkt kayu hitam, pathalong, crossing to koh samui with ferry, and back to penang.
Almost 1800KM done, excellent. smile_approve.gif
Travel in Thailand is really enjoyable, their road are wide and FOC, even in the remote area, they have double lane.
The moment we back to Malaysia, just beside the custam counter, we has to pay RM3.5 to use the highway for the toll. smile_angry.gif

On on
