Be it One Malaysia, One CINA One ANGMOH !!ALL just propoganda!!! Like Nazri said, Put aside all these talking, let work it out !! To me competition is always the key to address all the BAD factor. Before AA, MH hari hari rugi (but the service back then were damn good !! smile_big.gif ). With AA coming into picture, See MH now, at least making some money and also offer some lower fare to travel. Regulation is still required lah but again with "protection" we can never go far.

It looks to me that bigger protection is coming...

Altis, not a car sold at high volume, neither it would be assembled in Malaysia... Does not matter much here.

Perodua would be a different case, high volume sales... I'm wondering what would happen if Proton merges with Perodua... Just my imagination. a little bit wild maybe...Close down the plant in Rawang and move it up north to Proton City? Install Campro engines to Myvi's and Alza's? Or maybe simpler, just kill any product that is potentially eating into Proton's market. The math is simple, Saga BLM, Persona and Exora would automatically become market leader if there are no more Viva, Myvi and Alza in the market... Increase tariff on Perodua parts, just to teach those Perodua supporters a lesson...... I'm sorry, my imagination has gone too far....

Bro,
I hope not. P1 need P2 in order to make a bigger quantum lead. no competition no improvement! your dream may come true if those narrow minded politician which has no global view come into power/picture.

P1 does not need anyone to make a quantum leap. P1 controls Lotus, hence technology advancement is never an issue, Any other technology that current market requires can be outsourced... ABS, EBD, BA, traction control, ESC, SRS, Engine management, emission control, engine manufacturing, transmission, suspension, platform design, outlook styling, interior detail, seatings and etc can be bought. P1 just need to be a huge buying house, get all the components combo right and assemble them well, you will get a good car, just like building your own desktop...

Such activity seems like a fool proof event, how come still can screw up? It is never about the technology, or infra, or facilities. it is about the attitude and setting first priority to get things right... it is down right human issue here. If this problem is never solved, even merger of P1, P2, Inokom, Hicom, Modenas and Naza would not improve the whole situation, but just change of faces in the management...

just my 2 cents

Hmm ...why screw up?

Maybe becoz the G says need to use local vendors? And get ripped off by local vendors with inferior quality parts? Local vendor want to make big profit, don't have expertise to make the parts, so outsource again from an unknown company / brand abroad. Typical subcon job ala M'sia boleh? This is happening.

And big established international parts companies supplying all of those components don't want to give big discounts? Hence need to source cheaper source.

Or these same big parts company supply P1 with products not quite the same quality as they supply to their 'same race' cousins? You'd be surprised that this does happen.

There's a lot of reverse engineering going on in Proton. Main problem now I think is parts quality. Which sometimes is beyond their control.

P2 less an issue as their parts are of Jap design, quality and quite a number of parts made in Japan.

hilarious! smile_approve.gif

go read www.umw.com.my and if possible; try to find out how much PNB has shares in UMW and to know what is the core business of UMW and you will find they are not at all worry about all the things mentioned here. they have built a strong reputation and strong foundation.
