Let me share my ownership experience with my Year 2009, Hilux 2.5, Double Cab, c/with Manual Tranny.

I'm using my Hilux mostly on PLUS highway & thus, engaging a 4WD gear is quite rare.

Being my daily driver, I had quite a pleasant moment with her for the past 1.5 years ~ not much complaints.

Lets think this way:-

1. Hilux is actually a 4x4 vehicle@truck. It comes with good engine & thus, reliable & dependable workhorse.

2. 4x4 vehicles are not designed for high speed running, ;let alone comfort. Eventhough my Hilux managed to speed to 140KMH, I just don't feel safe. Even my stock std 20 year-old SAGA is way faster.

3. Maybe your Hilux is an Auto. My peers also complaints that theirs are slower than mine whilst going steep incline.

Although I must admit that driving a 4x4 vehicle is kinda boring, lets look to the positive sides. At least, you have a good, dependable truck to rely on.

If you're more to speeding, obviously 4x4@ trucks are not the answer. Sometimes, I'm addicted to power too. That's why I'm keeping my WAJA Campro ~ easily can speed to 190KMH++ !.

You are right to the dot, 4X4 Trucks are built for a purpose but surely not for top speed performance. I wonder why didn't anyone complaint a sport car can't go off road or hike a mountain or perhaps carry several hundred kgs load or maybe tow another vehicle. Just you cursing bus and lorry driver for driving at high speed on highway, others is cursing truck driver the same too for not only endangering themselves but also everyone else on the road.
