it happen to me several month back. luckily the car stranded at the office parking.
suspect the fuel pump, but happen to be the fuel pump relay.

solution before change the relay.
Do direct wiring from battery terminal/ any voltage source from the car to the fuel pump,
then start the engine, goto nearest workshop.
change the fuel pump relay (RM80)

mine is waja mitsu 1.5 dec 2005.

last week also happen to my sister car. waja campro 1.6 on her way to penang.
stranded at R&R Tapah. Luckily one guy coming to help. Did direct voltage input
to the fuel pump and continue her journey with the spare cable in the car.

I think the fuel pump failure is not because of the fuel pump, but the wiring
that doing the trouble to the pump. donno true or not.

And last week, my power window dont want to go up ( driver side ).
today open up the power window panel seem nothing wrong.
The power window happen to work out happily if i remove from the door,
suspect the power window motor is the trouble maker.

The motor is making funny sound during the rotation.
going to get the new motor for the door.

This is true....dear all waja's owner, pls be careful.
Sometimes your engine cannot start not
bcoz of the Fuel Pump failure, it is bcoz of the wiring problem at the connector which connect the
Body Harness and Fuel Tank Harness. Some mechanic will wrongly diagnosis of the
problem and ended with changing the Fuel Pump, but actually after they they replaced with new
fuel pump the problem still exist. They will do a bypass the wiring at that connector area.
Do check wiring first before changing with a new fuel pump.
Most of the cases not bcoz of the fuel pump.

hi all..just changed my waja 1.6 fuel pump last saturday..cost me rm500 for original proton fuel pump (including traveling for the mech to my house and changing the pump under hot weather..hehehe)

actually, planning to go to accessories shop to do some window shopping..1st start..it can start normally..but the engine died after 2-3secs..then when i try to restart again, it wont start..just the clanking sound from the starter..

wait for 1 hour for the mech to arrive at my house..try again to start the car..no prob at all..the engine start and behave like there was no prob at all..according to the mech, that was the early sign of fuel pump failure..to reconfirm..he took out the rear seat and recheck all wiring and socket connection and everything is in place..

so..i just ask him to change the pump..less than 30 min the job completed (including cleaning the rear interior area)..

anyway..i bought this waja secondhand..year 2005..milage just 81k..manage to use it until 82k before changing the pump..according to the mech..original proton fuel pump comes with 10k or 6 month warranty..or is it 3 months..cant remember..

yes what your mechanics said is true. I have encountered the same problem. Difficulty to start the car for few times. After waited for a while, it can start again. So I decided to change the fuel pump. After changing no problem at all. Price is RM450. The conclusion is proton made lousy fuel pump. smile_sad.gif
