Any update on your TC usage outcome?? Trying to kickstart back this thread so that sifus/newbies will give updates on wax & sealants they've tried. Will try rereading ALL 30 pagest to se what I can learn.

TC's not here yet man. Waiting for my pads to arrive in KL. I received my SN over the last week. Have yet to try it, and probably won't until my pads arrive.

I couldn't resist the poison and ordered some Colli too... smile_disapprove.gif It's really a value buy.

If there is anything in my wish list, it's dodo red mist tropical (a bit hesitant after the nano express issue) and Poorboy's Black Hole glaze. In terms of waxes, i've already got more than 10, so it's about time to slow down (after the Colli). I am however interested in looking at a few new prep products, AG SRP included as recommended by bro fishbonez.

For spray wax, other than red mist, may want to try DG Aquawax.

Bro KrisMas,

I just bought the NXT 2.0 liquid wax and tried it on saturday. after letting the thin coat dry for say an hour, i buffed it off. once done, i noticed that there are streak marks/buff marks on some part of the paint work. could it be because i used the same cloth to buff off the whole car? or something else wrong? now i feel like using the quick detailer to wipe down the car and see if it goes off.

can others help out as well.

TQ

George

Hi George,

From my own experience using NXT2.0, it could streak if it is applied too thick or left to dry too long. If either of these cases occur, when buffing off, you may not have buffed off all the residue, hence causing some streaks. Furthermore, if you use the 'same cloth' you should make sure you turn the cloth regularly to a clean side. If the cloth is filled with wax residue, it won't be able to pick up further residue well, and you may have inadvertantly left some residue on the paintwork. since you mentioned thin coats were used, it could be it dried a bit too long...did you have any difficulty removing the wax when buffing? NXT2.0 is generally quite easy off, and if your cloth was constantly grabbing on the wax, it could have been left a bit too long.

Just my thoughts.

Hi George,

Did you do the swipe test to see whether the NXT is ready to be wiped off? I asked this because the last few times I used it, ESPECIALLY WHEN LAYERING, it took hours to dry and caused quite a bit of streaking too. The only time I didn't get any streaking is when I wipe the surface down with IPA/Prepsol, i.e. clean the surface down.

You can try the QD wipe down but it didn't work for me. I needed to re-apply using a little more pressure than needed to clean the surface a little and lay down another coat...even then it didn't work 100%.

Regards.

Sifu Kris,
Interesting that NXT2.0 took hours to dry. Is that the norm? I always found it was quite okay to buff (passed swipe test) about 10-15 minutes after i finished applying the whole car (ie about 35-45 minutes from start of application). Was this at night or during the day time? Thanks for sharing.

Regardless morning, afternoon or night (well...it took much longer in the late evenings when the humidity is high) I found that if I apply it on a clean surface (polished and wipe down with IPA/Prepsol) it's a piece of cake and it'll dry quite fast and ready to be wipe off (like you said around 10 - 15 min). But if I already have a layer of protection on, and applied it after just a wash, i.e. no cleaner or any kind, it'll take forever (at least 45 min) to really dry. Maybe it's my wrong technique. I'll try to re-visit both my NXT 2.0 and M21 2.0 one of these days since I already can't remember the last time I used them... tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

it will streak and look cloudy if

1. you applied too much.
2. buffed it too soon on a humid wet day or just humid in general. I really hate moisture in the air and it can also affect the performance of your MF towel.
3. saturated MF towel
4. MF towel has lost its plushness (but i think yours is new right?)
5. and just repeating what Krismas said, what you did right before the NXT step also affects it.
Washing a car should be an artform, not a chore.

My NXT is paste, but I also found that it takes quite some time to dry. I was watching the vid at meg.con on the finger wipe test, although my caot was quite thin, almost not noticable, it took like 1 hr to dry.

I guess, the humidity here is just too high sometimes.. Also, bro krismas, what is prepsol?

Also, I did some read up on NXT, seems that it is not a wax but more appropriately term as Sealant. Was wondering if anyone can confirm it does not consist of any carnauba?

DuPont™ Prep-Sol® 3919S™ Cleaning Solvent
Prep-Sol® 3919S™ is a cleaning solvent specifically designed for initial surface preparation before painting. Prep-Sol® 3919S™ works well on the following difficult to remove elements: wax, grease, silicone, dirt, tar, insect remnants, road film and pin stripe adhesives.

Product Name: G127 - NXT GenerationTech Wax 2.0
COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS
Calcined Kaolin Clay 66402-68-4
Polyglycerol Ester 9007-48-1
Hydrotreated Distillate 64742-46-7
Isoparaffinic Hydrocarbon 64742-48-9

I would say that technically it's what we term as a sealant. Whether or not it contains carnauba is not specifically stated in the MSDS.
