Those that we buy from spare parts shops (other than UMW Toyota) are
Grade 2 or 3.
__________
Does it mean we have to buy the parts from UMW parts? But WH & ST are also
bouught thru the UMW imports. You can see the sticker on the parts.
Yes -I also heard about better parts that come with the car but no
confirmation.

Guys,
Traders like WH or ST even sell back to UMW sometimes coz their price is
cheaper..
I do agreed that parts comes with the cars last longer..This is a dilemma
situation..Most mech will said parts comes with the car is Grade 1 and I
myself sometimes agreed on this..But, If we think again, the ori parts
that we got should be the same and the lasting part is actually cause by
wear and tear with the related item..ie, Aircon compressor comes original
will last longer due to better and new engine, better alternator, better
belts. etc etc but if we change to another brand new compressor 5 or 7
years down the road have to work together with engine, pulley, mounting etc
etc which is 5 or 7 years old...
Shocks comes original with cars will last maybe 3-4 years..After that, if
we change to another brand new ori shocks 3-4 years, it have to work
together with some wore rubber bush, little out of alignment arms, spring
that is softer etc etc...
This is a dilemma..kekekekekekekekekekekeke..Even for engine mounting..if
u change 1 or 2 units, it might last u 50k-60k km but if u change 4 at
one time, it might last u 80k-90k km..
At the end of the day, make sure u get Ori stuff..I believe most parts
for SVX10 is made in japan or Made in australia unless shared parts with
SVX20 which might be made in thailand..
My 2 cents oniiiiiiiiii........:)
Cheers

Dear jtsilver,
With the impending financial meltdown (2009/10), you are one lucky dude
to get a company's car.
Cheerio !

Dear Joytoy,
If you want the very best, get it from UMWT. Those at the outside parts
shop are probably OEM/Grade 2/3.
For example, friend of mine who works in APM tells me that the shock
absorber they supply to UMWT are grade 1 and those that they sell to
parts dealers are grade 2/3 (different price for grade 2/3).
Therefore when you bargain with the parts shop for a lower price, they
may give you the grade 3 parts.

Dear All,
This is very true that after sale product is less reliable compare to the
original parts that come with new car.....
Normally, under TS specification, you tend to have 4 level to produce the
similar parts. This level is cater for diff. country and diff. market.
After sale market requirement is the lowest among the 4, therefore lower
cost. Although is the lowest among the group, it still achieve certain
world requirements...I would say better than most Taiwan brand....
But for Potong & Kedua, I wouldn't say so..their after sale product is
hardly any quality control at all.....just my opinion....

Dear JB,
I think if you buy direct from UMWT, it should be Grade 1. If you buy
from UMWT parts dealers, it should be Grade 2 and if from just an
ordinary parts shop, you will probably get Grade 3 and if you are
unlucky, a faked part. Beware.
