garyu87..that figure on wiki is dry weight without any fuel or liquid included.. u should expect nearly 200kg even for new bike,n other thing, sportbike has a very steep steering rake n it will not turn juz by pushing the handle bar, that why people hang on the side of the bike(like racing) it not just for fun or look good(but it is fun n look good smile_tongue.gif )...that what im worried,u need a lot of upper body strenght to do that(i can teach u the exercise needed for that) smile_approve.gif

okay roughly(services cost).... oil change+ filter will be around rm100-rm150 depend on the maker(kawasaki the cheapest, yamaha&honda the most expensive) n also depend on oil type(semi/full synthetic) n volume of oil use

but it will get expensive when it time to adjust valve clearance(rm300-600)(a "V" type engine will cost more) ... tyre both front and rear rm700-rm1500 ... chain&sprocket rm400-rm700 .. spark plug rm200-rm600 depend how many the bike used...oil change usually for most bike is at 5000km

petrol if on 600 sportbike..full tank of rm35-rm40 will last min of 110km n max of 180km ... so a big no no for daily commute..but on standard bike like kawasaki versys, full tank will take u to nearly 400km smile_approve.gif

it seem that u don't even know about engine configuration, search on wiki and youtube for the sound, each engine configuration has it own advantage n disadvantage

Hi Xaser,

OMG I didn't expect such cost.

Can teach me?
Actually I got the strength to carry a Computer server around 20kg smile_tongue.gif Well that can be counted!

When do we adjust/change the valve clearance, chain&sprocket, and spark plug? If have to change every 5000km then die lo smile_cry.gif

Almost the same as my car. RM 50 petrol 5-6 days finish(108-130KM) Petrol to me is quite okay, NO PROBLEMO smile_cool.gif

The engine configuration is done by ourself right? If so then ill have to ask the pros!

The Insurance is RM1000 per year and the road tax is 300-500 right?

Hey xaser what kind of Bike are you riding, quite curious, I wanna know?

what i mean by "engine configuration" is what type the engine is...there"s single cylinder,2-cylinder parallel,V-twin,inline 4,triple,V-four,boxer twin...each engine are different in term of sound n characteristic ... so it still depend on people taste...gosh man,u need a lot to learn....

currently im using kawasaki versys, before this kawasaki zephyr....but im used to lot of different bikes thank to my four older brother and my dad which have the same passion...so i have ridden n lived with many bikes and tried countless others(trade with buddy,he tried mine i tried his)

service interval depend on makers...as for valve clearance, ducati has only 12000km before adjustment, but japanese bikes usually between 20k km to 30k km...chain n sprocket usually around 2-3 set of tyres..n spark plug every 2 oil change ... just keep some extra money aside around rm1000-rm2000 when owning a big bike just in case ..there still other things like fork oil(rm100-300),change absorber(depend if showa around rm1000-5000,if ohlin more than rm2000-rm10000),clutch plate(couple hundred) n many2 other things....this what caught most people, they count that they can make it for monthly payment but forget to add in other overhead cost

just start lower really, familiarize urself with the power, handling, cost of living with it..n only then u upgrade....i forgot to mention, myself start only with modenas jaguh, then zzr250 n cb400..i didn't mention it coz it not mine(its my dad hehe)

owh u ask also bout insurance..yeah it just like what u said...around rm1000 for >rm40k bikes..roadtax is rm250 <800cc n rm350>801cc

SBK in Malaysia so expensive. Can count with fingers bikes 250 cc and above that can categorize as within reasonable price. Kawa Ninja 250R and Kawa ER-6N/F and the Naza Blades (250 & the 650). Other that that I can't think of others. Not much choice.

Maybe like all the mates here said, better start with the with the smaller bike like the Ninja 250R or maybe the Naza Blade 250 R (my current bike, love my V-twin sound). Or maybe go for the ER-6F (though sitting position wise, not like SBK).

Owning an SBK cost a lot, so I dont know how you will manage with income of RM 2,000 (unless you have FAMA assistance). Start with an affordable one, someday your career gets betters, earn more dough, can upgrade.

Riding a bike can be enjoyable, no matter small or big bike. If got big bike but end of the month stress coz no money, also no point.

OMG! Holy Shit! smile_dead.gif

Wah with my pay I don't know how I'm gonna survive.
Let me do my rough calculation:
1 week 126KM = RM40 Fuel
1 month 504KM =RM160 Fuel(Fuel No problem la don't want to count)
9 month 4536KM = Tyre Front Back RM 800 la + Service Oil + filter RM 150 = RM 950 (Okay la for me)(1 month I save RM200-500)
2nd time service oil+filter RM150 + Tyre RM 800 + chain&sprocket rm400 + Spark Plug RM 200 = RM 1550 (OMG shit! But that time I save alot la) Every 2nd time service expensive la.
5th time service is the value clearance RM 500.
1 year 6 months = 2nd service
3rd year = 4th service
3 year 9 months = 5th service
smile_cry.gif Save money then use finish!
Rough calculation quite okay for me but don't know la when comes the real thing! smile_wink.gif

there still other things like fork oil(rm100-300),change absorber(depend if showa around rm1000-5000,if ohlin more than rm2000-rm10000),clutch plate(couple hundred) n many2 other things

Fork oil? Is it Important?
Absorber don't have to change ma except if got problem right.
Clutch Plate also same right,If got problem.

After hearing and thinking everyones advice, my current decision is 600CC(50%) 250cc(50%). Final Decision need some time more and advices!

fork oil, absorber n clutch plate also included on the services schedule...they will eventually wear out even more faster on a sport bike...fork oil is the oil on the front fork(spring depan if orang kampung language smile_tongue.gif ),they will need to be change each time u change the rubber seal on the fork when it leak...n absorber on sportbike didn't last that long...clutch plate also not last long especially bike with "slipper clutch"(search for it if u want to know)

really la,just start lower...do u really can afford being married to a "supermodel"..the price that i said is just roughly the cost of the actual things,n there will be many more especially 2nd hand bike that not really being "pampered" by their previous owner...

thank god u ask first before buying, some people just go and buy n then they will get the shock of their life...maybe even pass out couple times hehe smile_wink.gif .. n some people only after they bought the bike then they realize the power is too much for them to handle..dun make that mistake

if u got the money so then no problem, just have to teach u how to handle the bike(just one small/big problem depend on ur skill)

Why you wanna take the licence 2 times?
Just get the B Full and be done with it for the rest of your life.
