Hi guys,
Im just wondering since some reviews are saying that the Forte 1.6 SX with 17inch rims seems a bit much, would it be adviseable to downgrade to 16 or 15 inch rims for more comfy ride and better FC? What would we be sacrificing and what is the downside of doing this? Also, do you know if we can get it done via the SA/Naza w/o affecting warranties? This will save me the hassle of looking a buyers for the 17" and negotiating prices for the new rims. Or do you think that 17 inch tyres are suitable for this ride? Of course I know getting the forte 1.6 EX solves this problem, but the SX has a lot more gadgets then the EX and in my opinion a better value for money/bagain. Appreciate your opinion.
Hi Danny,
This is subjective, it depends on our buttock preference and current ride...for me i am used to the firm setup of my wajunk lotus-tuned suspension... in fact i find the SX is more comfortable in comparison....buy the SX and use it until the donuts wear off....then only decide whether u want to downgrade or upgrade to 18"
rikeys bro,
do post photos after u change the rims....

darren,
Thanks for your insight. While I understand that the comfort derived from the 17 inches may be relative or a matter of opinion, my question is still would a downgrade of rim sizes be worth while. For one, FC would improve. I believe the handling might even improve though I cant say how much. The passengers in the rear seats will probably enjoy the less-stiff ride as well not to mention there might even be a reduction in the noise + vibration.
What I would like to know it, in this partucilar case (forte 1.6SX) what are the benefits of having the 17" rims as opposed to 16 or 15 inch besides the obvious sporty look? If I am not mistaken in the US, these 17" rims are standard for their 2.4L fortes. Does a 1.6L really need 17" rims?

Unless you really into it, or else, as darren mentioned, change after whatever you have wear off.. or else they won't trade in the tyre.. and you have to sell it off..

Daynncool,
I too believe 17" is an overkill for a 1.6 Forte but will suite the 2.0SX nicely....this is what i like about korean, they offer more than required in terms of spec and features
....i am planning to use it for a year or so and then change into light-weight 16" rims when the thread reaches more than 50%...the advantages will be less harsher ride, better FC, less tires roar and not likely to get dented rims due to our poor road conditions caused by potholes.... i do believe 15" or 16" will put less stress to suspension components and thus prolong parts life...to compensate for tyre grip you can always opt for high performance donuts

Darrel,
So confirm SX 17" is more comfortable than Waja 15"? I used to drive a Waja Mitsu-engine & am ok with the ride. I believe if wanna change rims, better do it when they are new. Maybe can trade-in all rims with tires for 16" without needing to fork out extra dough?

for forte mods, you new forte owners should consider the UR bars to reduce body roll and better handling...if warranty is not an issue.

Forte bad body roll & handling?????????
Wow, expectation on Forte's body roll & handling must be really high
