Royalties ain't cheap.. hence no more price competitive...

and Proton can physcho buyers that good handling car and the 1.6 can go 200kph... then still lots of beng and mat rock buy the new Waja GT 1.6 and mod it to look like a Lancer...

then same 1.6 MIVEC put in Persona... mebe 0-100kph time may come down to 14s from 16.5s...

Already fully autofoamed and soundproofed the whole car except the roof. Yet the FD still sounds like attap roof when it rains. With all the spending, the FD is getting close to a Peugeot 308. smile_dead.gif

In short, there is nothing really bad about the Lancer or Civic, but the poor NVH aspects are something that both the car companies should pay attention on. But then again, majority of those who purchase these models don't really care a damn about these deficiencies.

Hahhahah.... most Civic owners who installed full autofoam and soundproof already very satisfied with its NVH. Just for fun, maybe Miki Mao's ear too big that's why could hear atap roof sound. Normal during heavy downpour. I'm already used to heavy raindrops lor, not bugging me though. Both Civic & Lancer are more towards performance and handling. Not a prob for me.

Hi GuyM,

I know. Just to cheer up the day. Wah u go for Aprillia? Most would just go for Kawasaki ZX6R or the bigger ZX10 as there are lots of used and existing stocks that are sold at more affordable price.

Right, superbike especially getting the high demand 1 could actually retain resale value. Some could even fetch higher value when old. No doubt, Aprilia bike has more handsome fierce powerful looks compared to Kawasaki. Aprilia more muscular more blend and style in fact.

Better get back to Civic vs Lancer topic.. else bashing starts.... I vote for Lancer for having better reliability, durability, interior space for 5 adults, feel, build quality, engine output & torque, handling, performance, ride, engine sound and resale value in future. Oso can make it look EVO X or RallyArt when I'm bored with stock.

Yah, definitely get good resale value when the new coming Proton Waja looks like the Lancer. smile_big.gif Not going to challenge other aspects because it is your personal opinion anyway. schla01.gif Yes, the war with the fatty start again. 059.gif

Hi miki mao the lidiman,
No need to start war this time, just explanation. They have been saying rebadging Volkswagen Jetta/Bora, Galant A380 & now Lancer GT with Waja badge many many times. Just fyi, MMC placed the Lancer at top priority and would not allow even CKD to maintain its build quality and to regain public trust on Mitsubishi. Also, MMC is keeping its latest 4BXX series engines reserved mainly for Mitsubishi and its finance backup Hyundai/Kia only. Not even China allowed to get them and instead getting only the sirius series.

Waja even if it managed to persuade MMC to use Lancer chasis, it will not look anything like Lancer. Want to bet? In terms of resale value say 7 yrs later, it'll beat Civic 2.0.

smile_thumbup.gif From layman term of economics point of view, why would MMC allow or sell its current top selling model to a shitty company like Proton??? I would aceept the fact if the sell the previous version ie the chasis and exterior design but not the engine, transmission etc. They've done so much in the last few years and will not let go down the monsoon drain by selling the current model to Proton la.

Bro fatty aka donald quack jayraptor,

Please read this piece of news from The Star.
http://biz.thestar.c...mp;sec=business

If the model Proton is sourcing is not the Lancer, what would be the likely one based on the current line up Mitsubishi has? My guess is that the new Waja model would be something like what Perodua does with the Myvi (a minor face modification of the Toyota Passo). Yes, the Waja might not get a 100% Lancer clone but something close to it. With so many geniuses from China and Taiwan, it will not be too long they will get a string of accessories to change them to a Lancer at minimum cost. So, your call on the Lancer's used vehicle value. rolleyes.gif

From the business point of view, Mitsubishi is likely to get hell lots of royalty from Proton based on the popular demand (price & CKD) compare to Japan CBU. The Lancer currently is selling at pathetic numbers too. Not so much due to the deficiency of the model, but the APs one can have is limited. Not withstanding the competitors’ strength. The ultimate objective of the govt. will always set on the priority to develop the local automotive industry and not CBU. Also try to do another research from the likely NAP policy that will be. If you are Mitsubishi’s management, what would be your strategic business direction? (Royalty from Proton or the small profit margin u get from your dealer via Hicom). It doesn't need a business consultant to understand such simple economics.

Please provide some simple reliable data to back up your argument if u are so sure that Mitsubishi is not going to allow the Lancer GT to be used as a base model of the Waja replacement.
