hi all,

just did the following:

1. car wash with meguier nxT car wash
2. meguir gold wax.

can't really different between meguire power and my normal kit products ???? smile_dead.gif or i need to apply clay bar before i wax it again? but, my surface is clean and smooth so i don't think i need that clay process isn't it? and i didn't get my target or "mirror like" or" oily look" finishing....

sad.gif

Maybe a sifu's work using normal products also can get remarkable result?

My detailing work last weekend also did not up to my expectation, as I've skipped clay & polish. Only wash, wax then seal. I guess claying is really important to prepare the surface to polish, before jumping to wax & seal.
Ram me if you can!

Claying is a very important step in detailing. It helps get rid of contaminants that can 'dull' your paintwork.
Claying also helps create a cleaner surface for a wax or sealant to be applied on, so the results should be better and lasts longer smile.gif

As vx55 said...claying also important where i partially remove some of your old product bonded on the surface...this help new product bond properly.

vios2000,
SplitFire,

Remember, if you're after the 'look', the most important step(s) is the surface preparation works (i.e. clay, polish, etc), not the wax/sealant. Wax/sealant can only do so much to the look since it's main functions is to seal and protect.

Regards.

Agreed. Wax & Sealant only protect what you have done to the surface. So if the surface is not prep nicely until shine, then wax and sealant won't help.
Clay and polish (paint cleaning) will be more important. Once the surface is prep until shine then only seal with wax or sealant.
