Dear SX4 Sedan Owners,

I believe you guys have heard about the 12K reduction for SX4 Sedan 2008 model going on until the end of this September.

I have actually placed RM300 deposit, pending for loan approval. But now I am unsure whether this model is the right one for my wife. I do not know about the resale value. Tried to ask around a few people but they are unsure coz' this model is still new in the market and the 2nd hand value is not known yet.

Secondly, about the spare parts, is it really hard to get the spare parts in Malaysia? The salesman claimed that Suzuki now is under DRB HICOM, so getting the spare parts should not be a problem at all. Is this true guys?

Thirdly, this is a 2008 model car and I know they have parked the all the SX4 Sedans at yard in Selayang for a few months. Is it still worth a buy, taking into consideration the 12K discount?

What about the fuel consumption? As good as Vios? Performance wise?

I know I have many things in my mind at the moment and I hope you guys could share your 2 cents worth of your opinion. I will certainly appreciate your views. Buying a car is not like buying food. A lot of money is involved. Thanks!!!

Regards,
Jason

Correction, Suzuki Swift Sport & Grande Vitara have to use RON 97. SS no problemo at all.

Correction : all current Suzuki models selling in Malaysia can use RON95 or RON 97, except Swift Sport MUST use RON97 or above....refer to below link for detail

Ok let me try my best to answer your question here...at lest from the point of view on spare parts availability..

I'm current Suzuki Grand Vitara 2x4 model owner, i had a serious accident during my 9 months old SGV, broken both front lower arms and axles, front bumper, left side fog lamp, left side headlamp, left side front fender, sent car to an insurance panel workshop at jalan 222, PJ, since the workshop are not familiar with SGV and also this model are quite new that time ( and also it happen right before Hari Raya)and their take about 2 weeks to check the parts pricing ( as can't get right source to quot the parts and availability ) before the insurance adjuster can approve their estimate quotation and their took 1 months to order the parts from japan ( SGV and SX4 & SSS are all CBU from japan ) and take 2 weeks to repair my car...so after that accident , i keep telling every one to think twice before buying any CBU Suzuki model that their might face the same problem like me that the non common spare parts are very hard to get and take long time to order from japan....

and a months ago my 2 years old SGV had met another serious accident again , this time more damaged happen included both front airbag had deployed, sent the car back to same workshop as last time, this time their act very quick between a week insurance adjuster had approval the estimate cost and between a months all parts had arrived and repair works had started and estimate will completed right after Hari Raya , so this time i'm very impress with the efficiency of all the process took place included the source of parts pricing, ordering, availability/delivery..and the workshop told me all this was due to now DRB HICOM are willing to bring in more uncommon wear & tear parts to their stockist that their had foreseen more demand on those parts after with quite reasonable volume of CBU models was sold locally.... so now i will say CBU Suzuki models are not the problem to own one especially on spare parts resources.....

Actually for what i see owning a suzuki sx4 sedan is worth then owning city or vios as for the pricing after discount. Secondly its an 1600cc car, more solid body then thailand made vios and city as what i had consider before i decide to buy this car. Although you'll feel a bit floating when you cruise more than 140km/h, but for normal drive, sx4 is a better choice with the height of this car. Just try to test drive city, vios and sx4, you'll feel the different, this is what i'd done last two months. Cheaper price for a better car, why not? FC wise, my first two tank of petrol, RM75/600km(Ron97) with average speed of 90km/h, but now, RM75/500km(Ron95) with average speed of 120km/h with sometimes cruise until 170km/h. Overall, no regret for me to get this car.

How you comment about this when many people say Suzuki spare part is more expensive than other brand?

toyota, honda and suzuki are japanese brand...
can you be more specific and do not just make a 'general' statement....parts made in japan, indon or siam?..... who dare to say honda parts are cheap?

Totally agree, I don,t think suzuki spare part is that expensive compare to honda, toyota, but may be the resell value not as honda and toyota, but what you expect parts from japan, indo and thai? Just like price different for Bridgestone made in Thailand and made in Japan, Michelin thailand made and europe made.

Maybe your comment are right. But people here buy the hot brand because they claim their parts are cheap, don't forget those part are non geniune one that's why Toyota come out the memo say please use the geniune part. In fact, the toyota geniune part are not much different (or even more expensive) than Suzuki. Similar thing to some Korean car like Hyundai also.

But my friend, you can't really change people mind because they are based on "general" stetement. You can see those forum like cari, jbtalks comment....

That's a lot of people actually miss opportunity to drive those good car.

That's why sometimes buying a car is really depends on several condition, for me, I'm not going to any hot brand or what, what I consider is what i get for the money I pay. Ex, I bought a hyundai Getz 1.4 on 2007 with 56k, till now the car is still at tip top performance. Yes, like others say may be the spare parts is a bit expensive, but I compare it with Honda, Toyota actually is more and less the same. I like the car because of the spec for a hatchback car. Now, I buy SX4 sedan is because of the value of money, if sx4 selling at its normal price, about 90k, definitely i'll not going to consider owning this car as the price is too expensive for its spec. I rather spend 100k to go for hyundai avante that give good performance and spec or civic. that's why i say sx4 is really worth with 79k of price tag. somemore i get it at 77k with tintmaster armour guard tint film. laugh.gif

Dropping the price will allowed more people to enjoy and test Suzuki capability to manufacture and sell quality & reliable car. It is a good move, to establish market base, then only introduce more high end models. This tactic will work well, if people have test the car reliability and performance. Therefore, they save money on marketing, as those who have drive a Suzuki b4, will be a good reference point for potential customer.
