I am in the middle of acquiring my first ever Volvo in XC90 and hope to be more active in this forum soon.
Tell me if this is a good deal or not;
XC90 T5 Model July-04, Registered Dec-04 Silver color at RM153K ! Mileage 112k; One owner;
Viewed the car and without doubt, the cleanest car I ever saw! The engine and radiator was soo clean that make me feel the owner has just change the whole engine recently.
If the loan can be approved tomorrow, I should be able to drive home the car by this weekend.
I have been reading about XC90 issues, dos & dons for the past 6months and it times to make the move......aquiring it !
Following are the only checklist I have in mind.
1.Send the car to puspakom for accident verification if any.
2.Reviewing the car Service Record.
- Date the timing belt changed
- Engine Mounting
- Transmission Oil
- Pattern on tyres for any misalignment
- Sound of the engine.
3.Check if all light, instruments, buttons is working
Other than those, I left to God for any eventualities!!
P/S: Please do advise me if there are some other thing that I need to check ! Thanks in advance.

Suggest you do a google search on "volvo xc90 transmission" and you will have tons of xc90 owners sharing their failed transmission. seems like "not if it fails but when". Thus be prepared to encounter this expensive problem if you want a xc90.
Was interested in xc90 too but not willing to take the risk.

I got my new ride....everything ok except Alarm System required services...sent to SM and the sireen cost me RM1200 plus labour........soon the car will reach 120,000km......whic halso mean ATF and all belts except timing belt need to be changed. Verbally the service people said the belt will cost around RM1,700.00++...........I am readied myself with RM2,500 budget...
The good think is the next service will be another 15,000km......errr next 6months.

Hi, yupe the handling is great and the standard sound system is good.
Well how long you kept your XC90 before you sell it off ? Any reason for the selling.
The service people at SM advised me to do the oil changing every 7K eventough the manual said every 15K.......but I personnally thing that the more reasonable time to change the oil is every 10-12K !!.
And for the rooftop canvas inside the cabin...SM has quoted the price at RM1,200.

I f do not, good idea to install extra/auxiliary ATF cooler. It helps in my case..Volvo S70 2.0T. Many owners of T5 also fitted the ATF cooler

What exactly is the T5 model? I thought it was only the T6 and the 2.5T that were sold.

Exactly. Think he's talking about the 2.5 version.
