Most buyers would have tolerated if prices of cars are high because the Govt used the extra tax collected to pay for hospitals, for schools, roads and heck even for submarines. But here the high cost is more in order to protect Proton so their products could appear cheap to the public while all the cronies get lucrative subcontracts. And after more than twenty years what do we have???????? Proton is as weak as they started, no improvements which means all the sacrifices made by the rakyat since the beginning gone to nought..

You are right 101% right, it should be shut down and treat its twenty years existence as a bad nightmare. smile_sleepy.gif

You tell old MAH about this and he'll make sure you go to jail for at least 6 yrs by accusing you play backside. smile_big.gif
Ram me if you can!

It should be shut down. The silent power behind it should also give up or be shut down too. The rakyat have endured and suffered enough. I'm sure many owners would have tolerated more if say it cost RM10-20k, but if its a RM40k to 60k car, there's A LOT to complain about. We're paying a high price and its NOT A JOKE!.

Yes we're paying with sweat and tears and i've been dodging proton for many years.

We could shut down Proton, MAS, PLUS or any other GLC for that matter. We should close them down as they're not beneficial to the people and only focus on revenue (for the government). Later they (current or the other government) introduce new policy and open a new business, same thing will happen.

With this divided society, nothing can be done right, unless we are all sincere and willing to share.

There is hope now, bro. I never dream that one day malaysia will have such a strong opposition or even later running a Government, not during my lifetime at least, but things have changed. Previously those days, voters were like dungus, just vote the incumbents, dare not take risk or change. Now voters are more educated and open minded, the Kerajaan cannot do what they like, they now know the rakyat decides. While it will take a while to get a really just govt through the ballots, at least now the rakyat know they can decide who govt justly and who do not.

With lesser emphasis on politics based on racial grounds as we go along, things will get better and we will be together. Just be aware of racists and bigots who like nothing better than to split the country. smile_blush.gif

Realistically, it'll take a huge miracle and lots of sacrifice from the rakyat for the current trend, policies and system to change or reverse. Recent new car owners are going to suffer most if prices drop like a stone and amongst other reversals thats going to affect the industry and rakyat. In short could likely cause pandamonium and disaster. New car owners still have to fork out their monthly instalments as per agreement, no more no less. Can you imagine like the Ringgit being devalued overnight to half its original value. The system is ROSAK and rakyat are going to pay the price. Even if a new political regime takes over, they inherit the all the dung (like whats been happening) and people expect results in 12 months..how? I'm just VERY SAD and PISSED for this country and I'm in the thick of it all. Have to fork out RM40k for a new car?.. have to fork out lah. Obviously majority of the rakyat never learned from history, never realized, never bothered even to register as voter, which is why this country is in deep dung now (folks even insist status quo). Do you all realize we kicked out ONE dictator 6500miles away in 1957, only to replace with local dictators who're actually WORSE! They make you pay 100-300% tax for a nice imported car as long as everyone can remember.
Personally I ENCOURAGE people to change cars every 5 years, we have nice new cars on the road, we may have less enviromental pollution, owners have more savings, less repairs cos the car is much newer, less smoggy bangers on the road (not including collectible cars), happier rakyat.. BUT THE BLOOMIN AUTHORITIES DON'T SEE THIS as progress. YOU GET MY DRIFT??.. BECAUSE THE NEW CAR in MALAYSIA IS FRIGGING EXPENSIVE, PROTON IS FRIGGING EXPENSIVE, PERODUA IS FRIGGING EXPENSIVE, SO IS ANY OTHER NEW CAR!. Get my drift again?. Its JUST A BIG BURDEN for many to change to a new car. Its all political and could be anything to do with TAXATION policies and whilst the going's good at current policies. What to do when we have pea brained flers who can't even BEHAVE THEMSELVES in the highest office in the land..THE PARLIAMENT! I'm sure you all behaved much much better in Primary school, no?

I just hope my offspring have better times...thats all folks.

Dem embarassing that I have to bring another boo boo by Proton. I thought by pointing out the spelling mistake of the word Imitation everythings settled. But in the same advert it says CAN HURT YOU MORE THEN YOU KNOW when it should have been THAN.

Sorry for bringing this matter up but since Proton has been bleeding all car owners in this country for more than two decades, the least they could do is spent all their ill gotten income, at the expense of all malaysians, on better quality advertising agents, unless of course they have to rely on cronies to do the job.

If Proton or their advertising agents cannot even write adverts in simple English, I dread to think of their claims about making good quality cars..... smile_blush.gif They probably dont even understand what they write biggrin.gif

I'm sorry to tell you all, Proton can never be shutdown as many local Datuk rely on it as side income. For 1 simple components there are like more than 100 local contractor. What kind of good quality it can produce? Proton is never giving any value it is just the cheapest but nothing more than a cheap car. What value do you get? you are basically paying more, with that amount of money you can get a cheaper car overseas.

Where our petronas money? oil plantation money? budget money? did they give interest free loan to Malaysian to start business? Why are you still voting to keep them for sentimental values?

Most M'sian have tried their best, remember the 308 political tsunami. Now is another hurdle to fight the Dictatorship regime created by ######. It won't be easy, it will take some uphill battle, and each day we see defection and manipulation how this regime slowly wallup and dictate your everyday life and how bloggers should behave.

We need some inspiration leader like Nelson Mandela, or Mahatma Gandhi to bring peace to this land. Well after 52 years M'sian is now entering into a dictatorship era. Soon, they will come install CCTV at your house and dictates every word you speak, and thought you have. It has become 1984 a novel written by George Orwell. You guys should encourage your children to read novell, and study history of world war2, so that they can realize what kind of era we are now.

There can never be 1Malaysia, if priorities & benefits are segregated.

So far i have no problem with Proton, the parts replacement is pretty good, got one time my radiator broke, and water sipped into my ECU, they replace a new ECU and radiator without charging any cost as the car still under warranty. Well it is the problem with the top management to cut corner or certain components as a result it is sub standard.

My quarrel with Proton, is not entirely about its quality or business direction. I'll gladly give my blessings for them for every success. BUT!... when protection is like over 2 decades now, even the 2nd P2 also rely on gahmen protection for ensured advantage, AND THE PRICE OF THE CAR is OVERVALUED and WAY TOO HIGH relative to an average Malaysian's income, THIS IS BAD, VERY BAD!. In UK the Myvi is like 8000 UK pounds, similarly to if a Malaysian pays RM8000 (ok lah I give RM10,000) for a Myvi... but NO!..its a freaking Rm40k car and a BIG burden price to pay for car ownership.
Price of car have jumped SO MUCH since 1980's and its expected the rakyat to bear the burden.

Look! Remember Walls ice cream?, remember Magnolia? These companies shut their operations because it didn't make economical sense to produce it here. These items are now IMPORTED in!. Local made JAM is MORE expensive than imported all the way from UK and Scotland..how leh? This is REDICULOUS! There's numerous products once produced here, now imported in and the price isn't far off, perhaps even cheaper to import in. Things have gone wrong in this country and THE RAKYAT CHOOSE TO IGNORE ALL THIS. They still choose this regime as best administration of this land. Either we're all IDIOTS or just plainly IGNORANT!

I'm cocksure there ARE decent cars than can be sold for around RM20k but it can't be sold at that price because Proton cars are priced way above it all. Malaysian rakyat are VERY UNFORTUNATE on this issue. SAD!..VERY SAD!.
To add to insult, EVERYONE KNOWS Klang valley public transport woes... all adds up to a miserable prospect living here in Malaysia. End of the day, the average Malaysian have little savings and EPF ain't really much help. Go figure carefully.

I remember a while ago when I made not so nice remarks about Proton I was asked whether I own a Proton or not. As if that is relevant. Whether one owns Proton or foreign makes does not make any difference at all.

With the existence of Proton, prices of foreign makes went up, in order to make Proton prices appear cheap. So buyers of foreign makes have to pay extra now, all because of the existence of Proton.

For buyers of Proton cars, they have to buy Proton because these are the cars that they could afford now. For the money they pay to own a Savvy they would have been able to buy maybe a Honda or a Toyota, but noooooooooo…….now we got national cars and with your money you only deserve a Proton or a Produa or a Naza….

So you see the existence of these national cars only brought hardship to the rakyat. And what do we get after all these sacrifices......a natioanl car manufacturer that is hidup segan mati tak mau....

Proton almost go bankrupt when they decide to sit down and negotiate with VW. It will still take many years for "change" to happen in Malaysia. It's been 52 years and now there is a slim chance for that change to materialize but still it is not strong as the foundation is fragile, and everyday you can see defection, and political war.

If i become PM, the first thing i will declare, all earnings from country resources go to the poor and all national car free. Petrol price will be cheaper than Mecca. By then all the cronies will rot, who is going to fund their luxury yacht, house, car, and golfing kits.

Lol! maybe in the dream.
